The Furutech Floating Field Damper System Magnetic Floating Field Damping The current flowing through a cable and its connector creates magnetic (and electrostatic) fields around them, building and collapsing 60 times per second in 120 VAC systems. This magnetic field induces a current flow - electrical potential - in small parts like the screws holding the connector shell together which must be metallic for tight fastening. The current flow in these small parts actually creates “floating” magnetic fields around them, and they interfere with the larger surrounding magnetic field of the cable/connector, causing noise and distortion.

The Furutech Floating Field Damper solves the biggest problem you never realized by grounding the metallic parts in which the floating magnetic fields are induced by the current flow. All the connector’s different metallic parts are tied together and shunt all generated electrical potentials to ground. This dramatically reduces noise by lowering distortion for ultra-clean and stable energy transfer.
