The CI-PA4-60 deploys NAD’s proprietary DirectDigital technology, directly inherited from developments initiated on the M2 and refined through the Masters Series generations. This approach keeps the signal in the digital domain until the very last moment, drastically minimizing domain conversions and their inherent distortions. The load-invariant amplification ensures remarkable stability when faced with complex impedances and long cable runs—common features in multiroom installations.

The physical design follows an extreme compactness philosophy, with its 44-millimeter width for a one rack-unit height. This miniaturization conceals a sophisticated thermal architecture: thermostatic cooling draws air from front to back, allowing three units to be stacked directly in a single standard rack space. Engineers have integrated a mechanical locking system between modules, creating a rigid link that eliminates unwanted vibrations during multi-unit mounting.

The optimized switching power supply delivers true continuous power, in line with the Full Disclosure Power philosophy NAD has applied since 2002. This technology analyzes the impedance connected to each output in real time and automatically reconfigures the internal architecture. When only two speakers are detected on the four available outputs, the amplifier automatically routes power to a bridged mode, delivering 2×120W instead of 4×60W. This seamless adaptation eliminates manual configuration errors and systematically optimizes power distribution.

Front-accessible DIP switches allow granular control of each input. The global/local selection for input 1 enables either centralized distribution or a dedicated source as needed. The independently configurable mono/stereo mode for each input pair offers total flexibility for various usage scenarios. These physical settings ensure a stable configuration, independent of any external control system, while remaining adjustable without disassembly.

The daisy-chain topology via looped RCA outputs radically transforms the approach to distributed amplification. Up to three CI-PA4-60 modules can be linked to create twelve channels in a single rack unit, with analog signal distribution maintained without additional conversion. This architecture preserves signal integrity while greatly simplifying wiring and source management in complex installations.

The CI-PA4-60 inaugurates NAD’s new CI Modular series, officially unveiled at ISE 2025 in Barcelona. The modular design allows pairing with other series components—the CI S1 streamer and the CI SA2-120 streaming amplifier—creating a cohesive ecosystem in the 1/3U format.

Four-pin Phoenix connectors drastically simplify installation compared to traditional terminal blocks.
