Unnu Classic Series Model 13S
Overview
The Model 13S by Unnu is a wall-mounted audio-video cabinet measuring 155 cm wide and 25.5 cm deep, designed to accommodate soundbars and compact home theater equipment. It features a system of retractable bars allowing you to configure 1, 2, or 3 compartments as needed. Made in Denmark by Hammel Furniture to a design by Mike Fabricius, it combines modularity with refined finishes.
A format designed for contemporary wall installations
The Model 13S belongs to the “S” (for Slim) series introduced by Unnu in 2016. These reduced-depth models address a simple acoustic reality: bringing speakers closer to the wall can, in some configurations, improve sound dispersion. This cabinet is only 19.4 cm high, making it particularly discreet once installed. The internal space measures 162 mm in height and up to 1516 mm in width in its most open configuration—generous dimensions for a modern soundbar or a media center.
Wall mounting is the only option provided for this model. Unlike other references in the Unnu range, the 13S cannot be mounted on aluminum legs due to its depth. This technical constraint becomes an asset: the cabinet seems to float against the wall, creating a light visual line that suits minimalist interiors. Wall mounts from Unnu allow precise leveling and keep the cabinet flush against the wall.
Uncompromising modularity thanks to retractable bars
The ingenuity of the Model 13S lies in its system of retractable central bars. Depending on the chosen configuration, you can divide the space into two or three distinct compartments, or conversely use the full width for a single soundbar. This flexibility is invaluable: a user can start with a simple setup, then reorganize the interior over time without buying a new cabinet.
Each compartment has its own magnetic rear panel—the Model 13S includes three in total. These panels, positioned 5 cm from the wall, can be removed without tools to facilitate cable routing. Once in place, they effectively conceal wiring while remaining accessible for future changes. Two cable ports pass vertically through the cabinet: one in the center of the top panel, another at the lower back, allowing you to power devices from above or link multiple cabinets together.
The compartments can remain open or be closed with wooden doors or acoustic fabric doors. Choosing the fabric offers a notable advantage: the material, made of polyester and woven fairly loosely, lets infrared signals from remote controls pass through. You can therefore operate equipment without opening the doors. Sound also passes through this fabric without perceptible alteration, which is why many home theater enthusiasts prefer this option. Nine colors are available, divided into two series: Melange (charcoal, concrete, frost, coffee, latte) and Basic (white, silver, black, gray).
Compatibility and everyday use
The Model 13S fits naturally into a modern home theater setup. Its internal height of 162 mm easily accommodates most current soundbars, including those with upward-firing drivers (systems Dolby Atmos). Usable depth varies: 150 mm with the rear panels in place, 237 mm without them. The latter option suits compact amplifiers or network players that require better ventilation.
Unnu also offers a dedicated ventilation solution, to be installed beneath the upper cable port, for devices that generate a lot of heat. This system expels hot air even when the doors remain closed, thereby extending the lifespan of electronic components. Users also appreciate complementary accessories: aluminum cable covers engraved with the Unnu logo (available in silver), full-extension drawers that can be divided into three rows of CDs or two rows of DVDs/Blu-rays.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you install heat-generating equipment in the Model 13S?
Yes, provided you use the ventilation solution offered by Unnu. It mounts under the top cable opening and expels hot air, even with the doors closed. Without this system, favor an open configuration or regularly check internal temperature if you place an amplifier or a game console inside.
Do fabric doors affect sound quality?
No. The acoustic fabric used by Unnu is specifically designed to let sound pass through without notable attenuation. It also allows infrared signals from remote controls to pass, sparing you from opening the doors to operate your devices. This is why many high-end hi-fi furniture manufacturers adopt it.
What is the difference between Unnu and Clic?
Unnu and Clic are both designed by Mike Fabricius and share similar features (fabric doors, magnetic rear panels, cable management). Clic positions itself as a premium range handcrafted using traditional cabinetmaking techniques, while Unnu, produced by Hammel Furniture, uses materials and construction methods that allow for a more accessible price without sacrificing finishes.
Is the Model 13S compatible with wall mounts from other brands?
Unnu supplies its own wall mounts, designed for this model and allowing precise leveling. It is technically possible to use other fixings if they comply with the cabinet’s anchoring points, but Unnu recommends its mounts to ensure a secure installation and optimal aesthetics. Professional installation is advised.
What finishes are available for the Model 13S?
The cabinet is offered in several painted finishes (white, black, oak, walnut) with a durable polyurethane lacquer. Fabric doors come in nine colors: five in the Melange series (charcoal, concrete, frost, coffee, latte) and four in the Basic series (white, silver, black, gray). Wooden doors are also available for a more traditional look.
Can the Model 13S support a television placed on top?
The Model 13S is designed to be wall-mounted and to house equipment inside its compartments. It is not intended to support the weight of a television placed on top. To install a screen above the cabinet, choose an independent wall mount positioned above the 13S. Other taller Unnu models may be better suited if you want to integrate a TV into your setup.
- Eco-contribution included in the sale price.
