The Sonoro Elite merges a CD player, triple radio tuner, and wireless connectivity into a 21 cm wooden cabinet. Designed in Neuss, Germany, this compact audio system delivers 360-degree sound thanks to its upward-firing speaker and is aimed at users seeking a versatile device for the bedroom, office, or kitchen.

A hand-crafted wooden cabinet serving acoustics

The Elite’s rectangular cabinet combines hand-sanded solid wood and aluminum inserts. Available in four finishes (white, black, silver lacquer, or walnut veneer), each cabinet benefits from artisanal treatment that eliminates unwanted resonances. The rounded corners soften the device’s profile, while the front hosts the slot-loading CD drive and the LCD screen.

Sonoro’s engineers positioned the 3-inch full-range speaker on the top of the device, directed towards the ceiling. This unusual layout disperses sound waves in all directions instead of projecting them forward. At the back, a bass reflex port (a system dubbed “Wizard cone”) boosts low-frequency sound pressure. This mono architecture suits small to medium-sized rooms.

The LCD screen includes a photosensitive sensor that automatically adjusts brightness according to ambient light. Useful for avoiding nighttime glare, this system saves you from manually adjusting brightness levels. A central dial allows menu navigation, complemented by a supplied waterproof infrared remote control.

Versatility across listening sources

The Elite incorporates three distinct tuners: analog FM, terrestrial digital DAB/DAB+, and Internet radio via WiFi. This triple reception ensures access to local stations as well as thousands of global web radios. Four programmable preset buttons directly on the device let you store favorite frequencies, while the favorites menu can store up to 40 stations per tuner.

The CD player supports CD Audio, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3-CD, and WMA. Shuffle, repeat, and resume functions accompany playback. The front slot-loading mechanism evokes car stereos and simplifies disc handling.

Bluetooth connectivity (A2DP, AVRCP) enables wireless streaming from smartphones and tablets. The WiFi module provides access to Spotify, Deezer, and Amazon Music through dedicated menus that let you save up to 10 playlists per service. A 3.5 mm jack auxiliary input complements these options for analog sources.

The USB port does not read files and is dedicated exclusively to charging mobile devices (5V/2.1A). A headphone output enables private listening.

Wake-up functions designed for couples

The dual alarm allows two separate wake-up times, particularly suited to partners with different schedules. Each alarm can sound via a built-in tone, an FM, DAB+, or Internet station. The snooze function delays the alarm by a few minutes.

Sleep mode (sleep timer) gradually turns the device off after 15, 30, 45, 60, or 90 minutes. This 15-minute step timing helps you fall asleep to music.

An adaptive equalizer and sound presets

The Elite offers a manual equalizer to adjust bass and treble to your preferences. Seven presets complement this setting: loudness, flat, jazz, rock, movie, classic, pop, and news. These profiles alter the frequency response curve to suit the content being played. The “news” preset, for example, boosts vocal frequencies to improve intelligibility of spoken programs.
