Sonos Adds Google Assistant Smart Control
July 02, 2019

As the first brand to integrate multiple voice assistants within a single audio system, Sonos demonstrates the power of an open, multi-partner platform that emphasizes customer choice.
Use your voice with the Google Assistant built into Sonos One or Sonos Beam. You can also use a connected Google Home product to easily start a song, queue up a TV show, check the weather, and control your smart home. The free software update adds intelligent control from the Google Assistant.
Beyond music and TV, Sonos will also support the Google Assistant’s key actions and features, including continued conversation, Broadcast mode, and the ability to choose a different voice for the assistant. Introducing the richness of Google’s ecosystem and smart home integration, the Google Assistant on Sonos also offers over a million actions from partner products.
Additional features and actions will be available through future updates, bringing even more to the Sonos experience with the Google Assistant.
System Control
You can start a song using AirPlay from Apple Music, ask the Google Assistant to skip to the next track, and lower the volume in the Sonos app. Moreover, a single voice-enabled device allows users to request music or content to play on other Sonos speakers in the system (like the Play:1, for example).
Music, News, and Radio
Request and control your music by voice from a growing list of streaming services, including Spotify, YouTube Music, Google Play Music, Pandora, TIDAL, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, and Deezer, among others. Use your voice to skip to the next track, adjust the volume, or pause with all available streaming services on Sonos.
Simplified TV Control with Sonos Beam
Turn on the TV with the Google Assistant using the Beam’s HDMI ARC and CEC connection, switch from TV to music, and adjust the volume. Add a Chromecast Ultra for additional voice control features for TV, including requesting specific shows or movies from streaming services.
Get Answers, Manage Tasks or Projects
Listen to a daily briefing, flight information, or travel time; set alarms, timers, and calendar appointments; or get answers about weather, calculations, translations, sports, and more. It’s all part of the Google ecosystem. Ask the Google Assistant for commute information, and it will be sent directly to an Android phone.
Connect to the Smart Home
Ask the Google Assistant on Sonos to adjust the temperature or turn on the lights. To date, over 200 million devices in homes around the world are compatible with the Google Assistant, now available on Sonos.
