Overview

The EQ-Max 15 series features a 750 W RMS and 1500 W peak Class D amplification, with a 38 cm reinforced synthetic fiber woofer in a bass reflex enclosure. It is primarily geared towards home theater, although sealed enclosure subwoofers remain the most recommended for hi-fi listening. They offer quite decent musical performance for versatile use.

The interactive display on the front panel allows you to control it remotely with its remote control to adjust the volume, select one of the four customized listening presets (Movies, R&B/Rock, Jazz/Classical and Games), correct the phase, turn the front LED on or off, or limit the output for late night listening.

Simplified setup: Auto-EQ and remote control

The always quite complex setup of a subwoofer is Velodyne’s forte. With the EQ-Max, the American brand concentrates advanced technologies previously deployed on the very prestigious Digital Drive. With the Auto-EQ system, you now simply need to unplug the subwoofer, install it in your chosen location, connect the supplied microphone, and then let the 5-band digital equalizer work to obtain superb bass. This operation is all the easier as the Velodyne EQ-Max comes with a remote control. The latter also allows you to choose from factory presets such as Night mode as well as volume.

Class-D amplification and long-throw driver

Velodyne remains faithful to Class-D amplification as well as its long-throw drivers specifically designed for subwoofers. These are equipped with generously sized double-layer voice coils and massive magnets (from 2.1 to 4.6 kg!). Combine these elements with the Distortion Limiting System and you will understand that the EQ-Max will offer you a very pure and drag-free bass rendering.
