Lyra Phono Pipe 1.2 m

The LYRA Phono Pipe cable is a connecting cable between the tonearm and the phono input of the preamplifier. Its overall design is based on an in-depth understanding of the behavior of the tonearm-phono cable-phono input system and the parameters that truly influence the final result. The absolute priority given to very low capacitance in the hand-built construction of the cable eliminates resonances that often result in harshness and improves the resolution and dynamics of moving coil cartridges.

This very low capacitance offers the user maximum freedom in choosing the input impedance of their phono input. By allowing the use of higher input impedances, it prevents any avoidable degradation of the cartridge’s dynamics, resolution, and tracking ability.

Lyra uses construction techniques and materials known for their effectiveness in reducing stray capacitances. Unfortunately, these techniques are not suitable for assembly by industrial automation, which is why the cables must be handmade.

The conductors are made of high-purity monocrystalline OCC copper arranged in widely spaced twisted pairs to reduce stray capacitances. The dielectric used is air, as it is a better dielectric for achieving low capacitances than any other material.

The single 5-pin connector on the tonearm side immediately separates the left and right channels to minimize crosstalk. Each channel has its own shielding (rigid yet flexible sheath), which further reduces capacitance and crosstalk. Similarly, the RCA output connectors use the minimum amount of metal to also contribute to achieving the lowest possible capacitance.

As a result of the thorough research methods and meticulous construction techniques used, the LYRA Phono Pipe cable has a capacitance of only 32pF for a length of 1.20 m (1.40 m optional), including connectors.
