Grado Silver 3
Overview
The Silver3 uses a four-piece OTL cantilever with a Grado-specific elliptical diamond stylus mounted on a brass bushing. With the Silver3, a machined turned generator is used to achieve lower distortion and greater transparency.
Grado’s OTL, or Optimized Transmission Line, technology provides ideal transfer of the signal from the LP surface to the system’s generator.
This technology rejects unwanted resonances and reduces distortion by preserving the fundamental and harmonic frequencies of the music. It also minimizes the noise generated by the motor system in the cartridge.
Grado’s OTL stylus/cantilever design makes recordings quieter, improves the height, width and depth of the soundstage, and presents more detail than ever before.
As with all Grado phono cartridges, the Silver3 is powered by a twin-magnet system that optimizes the balance between the stereo channels. All parts of the internal magnetic circuit are subject to extremely high tolerances, creating the desired stereo imaging. Grado’s patented Flux-Bridger design allows the Silver3 to have one of the most efficient moving mass generating systems while creating excellent balance across the frequency range.
