The result of decades of experience in digital and analog engineering, the ND 555 combines an innovative new streaming platform with classic Naim analog technologies. It features a 40-bit SHARC processor with advanced signal processing, a suspended brass sub-chassis to isolate critical sound circuits from vibrations, and the best external power supply Naim has ever designed.

Whether you’re listening to Bonham’s solid groove or Coltrane’s dizzying scales, the ND 555 delivers music with surprising ease and incredibly infectious musicality. Paired with Statement or a 500 series amplification system, the ND 555 comes extremely close to the sound of live music.

A rich audio heritage

The ND 555 is the result of more than forty years of audio engineering. From our state-of-the-art streaming module to the powerful audio stages and natural sound, every element of this network player incorporates our design DNA, giving it the captivating Naim sound. The ND 555 development process also helped us tackle some new technologies: for the very first time, we integrated LVDS (low-voltage differential signaling) into a high-end Naim player. We chose LVDS because it minimizes timing errors thanks to its high speed and limits radiation thanks to its low noise level.

Precision craftsmanship

The ND 555 contains a wealth of innovative technologies, from input to output. The streaming section uses Naim’s latest network card, which incorporates high-speed, low-noise LVDS technology to route the digital audio signal. This high speed allows decoding of all HD audio formats up to 32-bit/384 kHz or DSD128. The source no longer acts as the master of digital synchronization - our new streaming card takes over and allows our DAC clock to control the flow of audio data. The data is upsampled by an integer factor in a SHARC DSP processor, achieving an incredible 40-bit precision, and sent to an R2R ladder DAC.
