Naim Audio 555 PS DR

Not everyone shares our vision of hi-fi. For us, good hi-fi performance requires a smooth, stable, and low-noise power supply. Our reference model 555 PS is the perfect illustration of this credo. It is the best power supply in our portfolio. Originally designed to be paired with our top CD player, the CD555, the 555 PS power supply is also compatible with our NDS and NDX network players, HDX hard disk servers/players, DAC digital-to-analog converter, and CDX2 CD player. Regardless of the Naim product it is paired with, the 555 PS power supply enhances every aspect of your favorite music. Voices and instruments become clearer and more natural. The perceived dynamic range has also been improved, while greater emphasis has been placed on timing, which is the sense of rhythm and precision at the foundation of music.

Technology and Manufacturing

The 555 PS power supply benefits from both our long experience and our eternal quest for superior sound quality. Its massive transformer, 40% larger than that of our XPS power supply, includes five separate windings serving as output for seven regulated power supplies, including an output specially designed for use with the clock circuit of our CD555. A new version of the 555 PS power supply was released in 2012, after two years of a development project for a new discrete regulator (DR) dedicated to Naim power supplies. In addition to improvements in cable routing, the new Naim DR features mechanical decoupling and internal rearrangement. These enhancements, developed through extensive listening tests, significantly increase performance for more communicative music and unparalleled musical enjoyment.
