Overview

Music is always very dynamic and generates very impulsive energy consumption from amplifiers, power output stages or active speakers during playback. These rapid variations in rising and falling currents cause extreme current peaks, which generate significant magnetic fields and interference emissions, and lead to power losses at the line and contact resistances. But even these current peaks must be fed to the components without delay and without loss, because any impeded current flow, no matter where in the hi-fi / high-end chain, has a negative influence on the sound.

As is known in physics, electrical conductors have not only resistance but also capacitance and inductance properties that disrupt the flow of energy between the power outlet and the hi-fi device. Thus, the power line from the wall outlet and power strip or power bank that goes to the hi-fi / high-end system plays a very important role. It is for these reasons that we have developed specific power cables. They are based on the legendary Air technology, which we have already used for the LS-4004 AIR and LS-2404-AIR speaker cables, for example, and which has caused a sensation worldwide on the high-end scene. The conductors are kept at a precise distance by specially designed clips and insulated from each other by air. The “air dielectric” also ensures low capacitances between the conductors.

The Multicore structure compensates for interference and magnetic fields caused by current peaks, which greatly reduces line inductance. In addition, dividing into several small conductors separated from each other also reduces the skin effect. This is due to the steep current flanks that accompany high frequencies. By distributing the current over many strands, the actual usable cross-section of the conductor increases, as does the cross-section of the cable. Thanks to these technical improvements, the AIR cables are able to supply power to the components even in extremely dynamic passages: their potential can thus be fully exploited.

When transporting electrical energy, electromagnetic interference fields are inevitably generated. To avoid them, the AIR cables are shielded with a dense braid of tinned copper. It mainly protects adjacent audio components and cables from radiated interference fields caused by high current peaks in the power cable. The many special features of the AIR power cables therefore very effectively counter all undesirable effects and make them exceptional energy conduits for perfect audiophile sound.
