EAT Essential Audio Tools C19L+HC 5m
Overview
Without realizing it, we are in a very polluted environment. All around us, fields emanate from currents flowing through conductors, signals from radio stations/mobile phones and other communication networks. Electromagnetic interference is not visible to us, it’s just there. Every device that consumes energy causes fluctuations on the grid in the form of spikes or surges, or causes a variation in electromagnetic fields in the air. The effects occur around the device itself and on its power supply, but even far from the device, the fields are still measurable. This can only be measured with appropriate equipment, not with our ears.
Many power cords for audio purposes are beautiful, just like ours. But looks aren’t everything! The current conductor is a double-shielded cable. The outer shield is NOT braided steel (a steel shield does not work as a shield but is intended to protect the cable from physical force). Instead, the current conductor has a high-density COPPER braided screen with tin protection against oxidation. Under the tin-plated copper shield is a 100% closed aluminum foil for high frequency suppression. Unlike a synthetic foil, this solution works!
The OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) strands are suitable for conducting high currents without resistive losses (energy losses in the form of heat). The ground wire is connected on both sides, the shield is only connected on the power supply side, as it should be. Finally, we gave the plug a nice CNC machined cover.
Where to use
If it were up to us, everywhere! The highest effect can be obtained when all power cords of consumer devices are replaced. External fields will thus be much lower, reaching acceptable values and causing less interference.
Power cords near interconnects are even more important. They must be replaced, especially when signal transport is unbalanced (with RCA/phono plugs). When power cords are wired in parallel with signal cables or when a signal cable comes from or goes to a phono stage, it is strongly recommended to place the current conductor.
Since the total resistance is linearly proportional to the length of the cable, the low resistance of our current conductor can also play to your advantage when used over long distances.
