The standout feature of the STYLUS 40 is its Line Contact FG 70 stylus tip. Developed by Fritz Gyger, this tip profile represents the pinnacle of microgroove playback. Compared to a standard elliptical tip, the Line Contact profile offers an increased contact surface with the groove walls, allowing for more precise tracking of high-frequency modulations and minimal distortion.

The tip’s curvature radius is specified at 5 µm in the vertical plane and 70 µm in the horizontal plane. This particular geometry, combined with high-precision manufacturing and polishing, ensures optimal contact with the grooves across the entire tip surface.

Thanks to its FG 70 Line Contact tip, the STYLUS 40 delivers remarkable sound performance, on par with the best phono cartridges on the market. Its frequency response ranges from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with great linearity, reproducing the entire audio spectrum with natural clarity.

The tracking ability at 315 Hz is specified at 90 µm for the recommended tracking force, demonstrating this diamond’s excellent capability to follow the fastest modulations without distortion or intermodulation. The lateral dynamic compliance of 25 µm/mN ensures excellent groove tracking and outstanding dynamic reproduction.

Mounted on an OM 40 cartridge, the STYLUS 40 delivers a wide, precise, and detailed sound. The high frequencies are fine and airy, with rich harmonics. The midrange is highly neutral, rendering vocals with presence and naturalness. The bass is deep and articulated, with exemplary foundation and responsiveness. Easy Installation

Like all Ortofon replacement diamonds, the STYLUS 40 is designed for easy user installation, without the need for tools or special skills. Simply remove the old diamond by gently pulling it forward, then insert the new one by pushing it until it clicks into place. The operation takes less than a minute.
