The Smart Evo uses Class D amplification, ensuring dynamic and precise sound reproduction with a low distortion rate. The sound quality is also top-notch, thanks to the integration of an ESS9023P Sabre DAC, renowned for its high precision and low distortion. The amplification stage is up to the task, with a distortion rate of less than 0.1% at 1 watt.

Comprehensive Connectivity for Maximum Versatility

It features five stereo RCA inputs, including a phono input with integrated preamplification for turntables. An HDMI ARC input allows easy retrieval of sound from a television. For digital sources, there is an optical input and a USB-C port functioning in DAC mode.

The network section is not left out with an Ethernet port and dual-band Wi-Fi, allowing access to audio files shared on the local network, web radios, and numerous online music services like Spotify, Qobuz, Tidal, Amazon Music, or Napster. Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect compatibility is also included for easy control from these services’ apps.

The Smart Evo also supports wireless streaming from a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth 5.2, which supports high-definition audio codecs aptX HD, aptX LL, and aptX AD in addition to the classic AAC and SBC. Finally, the AirPlay 2 protocol is managed for easy music streaming from an Apple device.

Intuitive Control and Advanced Features

For intuitive control, the amplifier is equipped with a 5.6 cm diagonal OLED screen that permanently displays information about the selected source. An infrared remote control is provided, but control can also be done from the free 4Stream mobile app, available on iOS and Android.

This app provides access to all amplifier functions, including a 10-band parametric equalizer for finely tuning the sound reproduction. It also allows easy configuration of the Smart Evo within a multiroom system.

The soundstage is wide and deep with a great sense of space. The timbres are respected, and the different registers express themselves with a beautiful balance, without artificially highlighting any part of the spectrum.

The dynamics are impressive, with the amplifier easily handling the contrasts between calm and lively passages. Power surges occur without hardening or compressing the dynamics.

The bass register is deep and well-controlled, with fast and responsive bass. The midrange is detailed and natural, allowing full enjoyment of voices and acoustic instruments. The treble is precise and extended without ever becoming aggressive.
