A groundbreaking technical concept in the industry

The RP-7 marks a turning point in the production of professional vinyl turntables. Until now, only custom models like the legendary Technics SL-700s of the late Biz Markie existed for this format. These prototypes, first seen in 2013 at the legendary Tools of War Crotona Park Jams, had become objects of desire for an entire community of enthusiasts. Reloop is finally democratizing this technology with the RP-7, allowing every DJ and collector to access a professional tool dedicated to the 7-inch format.

The RP-7’s compact yet robust chassis has dimensions perfectly suited to its specific use: 350 x 270 x 139 mm and a weight of 5.7 kg. This compact design makes transport easy while maintaining the sturdiness essential for professional performance. The 215 mm die-cast aluminum platter ensures stable, precise rotation—an ideal size for 7-inch vinyl without the usual excess of conventional turntables.

Particular attention has been paid to acoustic isolation. Reloop’s engineers have integrated an internal rubber damping system that drastically minimizes parasitic resonances. This design maintains smooth playback even in challenging acoustic environments—an essential feature for club sets where low frequencies can cause interference.

A copper tonearm for optimal precision

The standout feature of the RP-7 is its straight copper tonearm with a hydraulic cueing system. This statically balanced configuration eliminates the need for a traditional anti-skating mechanism, significantly simplifying setup and reducing potential margins of error. Copper, chosen for its conductive properties and rigidity, ensures exceptionally pure signal transmission.

The tonearm’s effective length, set at 164.5 mm, has been calculated specifically to optimize playback of 7-inch records. This shorter length compared to usual standards improves tracking of the tightly packed grooves characteristic of 45s. The hydraulic lift system allows smooth, precise handling, preserving both records and the cartridge.

The arm base, borrowed from RP-8000 MK2 technology, offers height adjustment with vertical tracking angle (VTA) tuning. This professional feature allows the arm to be perfectly matched to the cartridge used and record thickness, ensuring optimal playback in all configurations.

Motorization and dynamic performance

The three-phase, 8-pole brushless DC motor delivers a starting torque of 2.5 kgf/cm, specifically calibrated for the unique needs of 7-inch records. This power enables an almost instantaneous start-up (under one second) while maintaining perfectly stable rotation. Quartz lock guarantees absolute speed accuracy, available in three modes: 33⅓, 45, and 78 RPM.

The pitch control system offers three ranges: ±8%, ±16%, and ±35%. This exceptional range opens up considerable creative possibilities for mixing and musical experimentation. The high-resolution pitch fader ensures precise adjustments, essential for beatmatching and advanced scratching techniques. A reset button allows instant return to nominal speed, making quick transitions easier.

The electronic braking system complements this technical package by offering full control over platter stop. This is particularly useful for turntablism techniques where tempo control is crucial.

Connectivity and system integration

The rear connection section, housed in a recessed compartment, protects cables while facilitating integration into any setup. Gold-plated RCA connectors ensure lossless signal transmission, while the integrated Phono/Line switch offers universal compatibility. This feature eliminates the need for an external preamp for mixers without a phono input, greatly simplifying connections.

The ground terminal, while optional thanks to the built-in preamplifier, remains available for installations requiring additional electrical isolation. The standard IEC power inlet accepts voltages from 100 to 240V (50/60Hz), ensuring worldwide use without an adapter.

The detachable, adjustable LED light mounted on the arm makes it easy to precisely locate the stylus position in the darkness of DJ booths. This subtle yet effective light source preserves the atmosphere while providing perfect visibility for delicate handling.
