The Model One+ stands out with an upward-firing speaker, a technical solution that preserves the clean front design while projecting sound optimally into the room. This long-throw, heavy-magnet driver is mounted in a ported wooden cabinet, creating a calculated bass-reflex loading that delivers balanced sound reproduction despite the unit’s compact dimensions.

The top positioning of the speaker solves a specific design challenge: integrating a high-quality LED display for digital information while preserving the characteristic look of the Model One range. This layout also allows sound to disperse more evenly throughout the room, avoiding direct reflections from the surface the radio sits on.

The hand-crafted real walnut cabinet is more than an aesthetic element. Solid wood offers specific acoustic properties, notably inertia that limits unwanted resonances. Each cabinet has unique grain, turning every Model One+ into a one-of-a-kind piece. The beige front panel complements this warm finish, creating a visual contrast that highlights the analog controls.

Manual tuning that preserves the pleasure of radio discovery

The Model One+ maintains the manual tuning principle that made Tivoli Audio’s reputation. The large central tuning knob, with its 5:1 reduction ratio, enables precise FM frequency adjustment and smooth navigation across DAB stations. This tactile approach, counter to fully digital interfaces, makes station seeking a deliberate gesture rather than a mere button press.

For DAB/DAB+ stations, a Scan button automatically loads the list of stations available locally. Once scanning is complete, the tuning knob lets you navigate between the various digital stations with the same analog feel as on the FM band. This fusion of digital technology and analog interface is a distinctive signature of the Model One+.

The radio offers five preset slots per source (FM and DAB), for a total of ten memorized stations. The included remote control provides access to additional functions such as LED display brightness adjustment, alarm setup, and advanced parameters like Dynamic Range Compression (DRC) for DAB stations. This remote, powered by an included battery, also lets you control all essential functions from a distance.

Discreetly integrated modern connectivity

Beyond traditional and digital radio reception, the Model One+ includes Bluetooth for wireless streaming from smartphones, tablets, or computers. Pairing is easily handled via the source selection button, turning the radio into a speaker for personal content. The 3.5 mm auxiliary input lets you connect wired sources, while the headphone output offers private listening without disabling other outputs.

A separate line output deserves attention: it allows you to use the Model One+ as an external tuner for a larger hi-fi system, thus preserving Tivoli’s outstanding tuner reception quality in an expanded audio setup. This output is not affected by the volume control, providing a constant signal level for recording or external amplification.

The included AC power supply comes with an external FM antenna to optimize reception in challenging environments. The unit also retains a 12–16 V DC input, a characteristic inherited from earlier models, theoretically allowing mobile use with a suitable power source.
