A technical architecture serving musicality

The move to a six-layer circuit architecture minimizes unwanted interactions between components and significantly reduces background noise. This multilayer approach is a complete overhaul of audio signal flow, with ultra-sensitive phono signal paths carefully shielded from any interference.

The power supply, completely redesigned, delivers a 20% noise reduction compared to the Classic Phono. This high-capacity DC power supply ensures exceptional dynamic range, allowing for high signal levels well before clipping. The meticulous circuit layout guarantees a remarkably low noise floor.

The Series 40 chassis, slightly more generous than previous models, retains Cyrus’s signature half-width format. The brushed anodized aluminum enclosure with tempered glass front panel marks a welcome visual evolution, modernizing the look without sacrificing the brand’s identity.

Exceptional versatility: four sources simultaneously

The 40 PPA accepts up to four turntables at once, making it easy to switch between different setups. Each input is configured independently for MM or MC cartridges, with gain settings (30–65 dB in 5 dB steps), resistance, and capacitance. This range covers virtually all cartridges on the market.

Settings can be comfortably adjusted from the listening seat via the remote control, unlike the usual tedious DIP switches. The 40 PPA offers balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs, ensuring perfect integration into any system. A ground switch eliminates potential ground loops in complex configurations.

Modern interface and intuitive control

The 5-inch color TFT screen clearly displays each input’s configuration and streamlines setup. The output level indicator helps optimize gain for each cartridge. The capacitive touch buttons, invisible until illuminated, preserve the front panel’s clean aesthetics.

Synergy with the 40 PSU power supply

The optional 40 PSU features a microprocessor that communicates with the preamp to continuously optimize power delivery.
