Perlisten A2s (pack of 2)
Overview
The Perlisten A2s is the brand’s entry-level model for speakers dedicated to effects channels. Designed for multichannel applications, this compact speaker features a 35 mm composite Teteron tweeter mounted in a custom waveguide and a 215 mm carbon fiber woofer. It’s engineered for flexible installation: the speaker can be mounted on a wall or ceiling using an articulated bracket, allowing precise placement for side, rear, or height channels.
The A Series: an accessible, no-compromise approach
The A Series is Perlisten’s most accessible range, launched in 2025. This line draws inspiration from the acclaimed S and R series, bringing the same commitment to engineering and design to a more versatile offering. Perlisten has adapted technologies similar to those in its high-end ranges to create a more affordable option without sacrificing engineering principles.
Unlike the S and R series, which use the DPC (Directivity Pattern Control) system with multiple domes in a vertical configuration, the A Series employs a newly developed waveguide paired with the 35 mm Teteron tweeter to achieve wide dispersion and low distortion. The series includes four models: the floorstanders A4t and A3t, the compact monitor A3m, and the A2s surround speaker.
Construction and custom drivers
The 35 mm composite Teteron tweeter is mounted in a custom waveguide that controls dispersion and enhances imaging across the listening area. This tweeter is an evolution of the one used in the R Series, but with a polyester dome rather than silk. Teteron is a high-strength polyester, similar to the synthetic fabric used for parachutes, chosen for its light weight and durability.
The waveguide is more than just an aesthetic element: it has been precisely shaped to control how sound radiates from the tweeter, maintaining consistent tonal balance over a wider listening area. Note that the waveguide protrudes slightly over the mid/bass woofer, helping the speaker approximate a point source.
Low frequencies are handled by a 215 mm carbon fiber woofer. Carbon fiber offers an excellent stiffness-to-mass ratio, enabling fast transient response while limiting cone deformation. The speaker uses a shallow cabinet specifically designed for flexible installation, with the drivers angled downward, making it suitable for mounting on side or rear walls, ideally near the ceiling.
Mounting and system integration
The speaker includes mounting points for direct installation, or it can be installed on an optional articulated bracket that offers numerous positioning options. This bracket, made by IsoAcoustics, allows precise aiming of the speaker—an asset for Dolby Atmos or DTS:X configurations where each channel must be directed accurately toward the listening area.
This flexibility makes the A2s well-suited to spatial audio setups, where maintaining tonal consistency across all channels is essential while using compact, easy-to-place speakers. The speaker integrates naturally with other models in the A Series, simplifying the assembly of a coherent home theater system.
The A2s is specifically designed for surround applications, whether for cinema or spatial audio configurations. It is suitable for side, rear, and height channels alike. You can think of the A2s as the Swiss Army knife of surround speakers—an essential component in any serious cinema installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the A2s be used as a main speaker in a stereo system?
No, this model is designed specifically for effects channels in multichannel systems. Its design prioritizes controlled dispersion and integration with other surround speakers. For stereo listening, the A3t, A4t, or A3m models from the same series will be more appropriate.
What is the main difference between the A Series and Perlisten’s R or S Series?
The S and R Series use the DPC (Directivity Pattern Control) system with multiple domes, while the A Series employs a newly developed waveguide with a single Teteron tweeter. The higher series also incorporate more expensive materials like beryllium for tweeters and more massive enclosures. The A Series nevertheless delivers Perlisten’s engineering principles at a more accessible price point.
Is the mounting bracket included with the speaker?
The speaker has mounting points for direct installation, but the articulated bracket is optional. This bracket, made by IsoAcoustics, offers extensive aiming possibilities and is suitable for both wall and ceiling mounting.
Can the A2s be used as a ceiling speaker in a Dolby Atmos setup?
Yes, the A2s was designed for this application. The drivers are angled downward in the cabinet, making it suitable for ceiling-mounted placement on a wall. The articulated bracket allows adjustment toward the main listening area.
What amplifier power should be planned for the A2s?
Recommended power is between 50 and 200 watts. With a sensitivity of 86.8 dB and a nominal impedance of 6 Ω, the speaker works efficiently with most modern home theater amplifiers. A 100-watt-per-channel amplifier will provide comfortable headroom for dynamic passages.
