Clic Classic Series Model 230
Overview
The Model 230 by Clic is a modular three-compartment audio-video cabinet, designed and manufactured in Denmark. It allows you to organize and conceal equipment while maintaining the aesthetic and functional coherence of your interior layout.
The essence of Scandinavian modular design
The Model 230 embodies the realization of a vision born in 1999, when Mike Fabricius, founder of Clic and a hi-fi enthusiast, was unable to find a piece of furniture on the market that could suitably showcase his 3,000 vinyl records and substantial audio system. Faced with this gap, he decided to design his own furniture at home, giving rise to the first Clic prototypes. This origin story, rooted in a genuine need rather than a purely commercial approach, is evident in every detail of the Model 230.
The cabinet’s structure relies on a unique manufacturing technique developed by Clic. Unlike conventional furniture, the Model 230 does not have a fixed back panel. While this construction method may seem counterintuitive at first glance, it paradoxically gives the cabinet remarkable stability. The self-supporting frame maintains optimal structural rigidity while enabling unprecedented configuration flexibility. This design ensures a high load capacity, whether the cabinet is placed on the floor, mounted on aluminum feet, or wall-mounted.
The dimensions of the Model 230 have been meticulously calculated to blend harmoniously into contemporary living spaces. Each compartment offers generous usable volume, with internal dimensions of 322 mm in height and 482 mm in width. The depth varies depending on the chosen configuration, comfortably accommodating most current audio-video equipment, from amplifiers to media players, as well as game consoles.
A cable management system engineered down to the smallest detail
Cable management is often the Achilles’ heel of home AV setups. For the Model 230, Clic has developed a particularly sophisticated cable management system. A cable pass-through centered on the top panel and a second at the base of the cabinet enable smooth vertical routing of connections. For those who prefer a clean, uninterrupted look, the cabinet can be ordered without the top pass-through.
Removable rear plates, positioned 5 cm from the back of the cabinet, play a central role in this setup. Secured by an ingenious magnetic system, they can be removed instantly to access connections or modify wiring. Each plate incorporates its own cable opening, allowing methodical organization of different circuits: power, audio signal, video, or data. This 5 cm gap between the plate and the back of the cabinet creates a concealed technical space where cables can move freely without cluttering the main storage area.
The magnetic system of the rear plates reflects the attention paid to user ergonomics. Unlike screwed or clipped solutions, the magnets allow for silent, effortless handling—particularly appreciated during system adjustments. This ease of access encourages users to maintain a tidy installation rather than letting cables accumulate for fear of having to dismantle panels.
Customization and finishes: expressing individual taste
The modularity of the Model 230 extends well beyond its physical structure. Each compartment can take on four distinct configurations: open to display equipment, fitted with a wooden door for a classic aesthetic, outfitted with a fabric door to combine concealment with acoustic permeability, or arranged with two drawers for storing accessories and media. This flexibility allows up to 64 different combinations with a single cabinet.
The available finishes reflect the diversity of contemporary interiors. White, black, grey, and light grey paints suit minimalist or industrial moods. Oak and walnut veneers add warmth and natural character to more traditional spaces. Fabric doors, available in ten carefully selected colors (Coal, Frost, Coffee, Black, Dark Blue, Concrete, Latte, Basalt Grey, White, Olive Green), introduce texture and nuance while preserving the acoustic qualities of the concealed equipment.
Each Clic cabinet undergoes an artisanal finishing process after assembly. The hand-applied paint ensures perfectly crisp edges and flawless joints. This method, more time-consuming than industrial processes, delivers a finish quality comparable to luxury furniture. The water-based paint used combines environmental responsibility with exceptional durability and long-term color stability.
Accessories and installation options
The Model 230 can be enhanced with accessories designed to extend its functionality. Aluminum or brass cable cover plates, available in silver, black, or brass finishes and engraved with the Clic logo, add a refined touch to cable pass-throughs. These precisely machined metal elements transform a functional detail into a decorative feature.
Clic Alu Stands deserve special mention. Machined from a single piece of solid aluminum, they combine absolute stability with a clean, minimalist design. Adjustable feet allow for perfect leveling, even on uneven floors. Available in silver and black finishes, they raise the cabinet to an ergonomic height while creating a visually light appearance.
For wall installation, the Clic wall mount offers invisible, adjustable fastening. This system allows the cabinet to sit perfectly flush against the wall, creating seamless architectural integration. The load capacity remains identical to a floor installation, underscoring the robustness of the design.
Additional shelves can be ordered to further subdivide the interior space. Their positioning at three different levels makes it easy to fine-tune the setup to equipment dimensions. This vertical modularity complements the horizontal flexibility of the compartments.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Model 230 accommodate a soundbar inside the compartments?
This specific model is not designed for integrating a soundbar inside the compartments. The dimensions and configuration are optimized for traditional audio-video equipment. For a soundbar-oriented solution, Clic offers other models such as the 230S, specifically adapted to this use with a compartment that can extend across the full width of the cabinet.
How does the magnetic stacking system work between multiple Clic cabinets?
All Clic cabinets feature concealed metal parts in the corners of the top panel. Special magnetic feet allow multiple models to be safely stacked. This invisible system guarantees perfect alignment and total stability, enabling custom vertical compositions as your needs evolve.
Do the fabric doors affect equipment sound quality?
Clic fabric doors are specifically designed to be acoustically transparent to infrared remote frequencies while enabling optimal sound diffusion. The selected fabric and its frame-mounted construction preserve the acoustic characteristics of speakers or equipment placed behind them, unlike solid doors that can create unwanted reflections.
What is the maximum load supported by the Model 230?
While Clic does not communicate a specific maximum load, the construction without a fixed back panel and the exclusive assembly technique give the cabinet a particularly high load capacity. The structure can easily support heavy equipment such as power amplifiers or high-end turntables, whether the cabinet is floor-standing, on feet, or wall-mounted.
