Clic Classic Series Model 240 large
Overview
The Classic Series Model 240 Large by Clic is a 2.02 m wide audio-video storage unit, made in Denmark. It features three modular compartments, a cable management system, and can be custom-configured to the user’s needs. Designed to house technical equipment while maintaining a refined aesthetic, it combines the principles of Scandinavian furniture with the demands of modern hi-fi.
Handcrafted construction and unique structural technique
The Model 240 Large is built using a distinctive manufacturing technique that sets Clic apart from conventional makers. Instead of using a fixed back panel to stiffen the structure, Danish craftsmen employ a method that delivers a stable frame through reinforced joints and specially engineered corners. This approach offers two advantages: maximum usable depth in each compartment and the ability to fully remove the magnetic back plates without compromising the unit’s rigidity.
These back plates, positioned 5 cm from the rear edge, free up storage space for cables and power supplies. They can be removed from the front thanks to their magnetic attachment, simplifying technical access without needing to move the unit. When in place, open compartments offer a depth of 314 mm, which increases to 363 mm without the plates. For compartments fitted with doors, these measurements are 298 mm and 347 mm respectively, accommodating amplifiers, network players, and other standard hi-fi components.
The unit is made from 16 mm MDF coated with hand-applied polyurethane paint. This finish is highly resistant to wear and retains its sheen over time. The manual application is performed after the unit is fully assembled, resulting in perfectly aligned joints and crisp edges with no visible brush marks. This level of finish requires artisanal expertise and rigorous quality control before each shipment.
Three compartments, multiple possible configurations
The Model 240 Large consists of three identical compartments, each of which can hold an adjustable shelf in three different positions. This modularity allows you to tailor the internal height to the equipment to be housed: compact speakers, a power amplifier, a CD player, or even a game console. Additional shelves can be ordered to further divide the space if needed.
Each compartment can remain open or be closed with a wooden door (in the same finishes as the rest of the unit) or an acoustically transparent fabric door. The latter is particularly relevant for concealing speakers while preserving their sonic performance. The Model 240 Large does not accept drawers, unlike some other models in the Clic range, making it primarily intended for equipment storage rather than vinyl or physical media.
A thoughtful and discreet cable management system
Cable management is one of the Model 240 Large’s strong points. The unit includes as standard an opening in the top panel (centered) and another at the bottom, allowing cables to be routed between levels or connecting multiple Clic units placed side by side. Additional openings can be specified at the time of manufacture, or the unit can be delivered without any holes if the user prefers to drill their own passages according to specific needs.
To dress these openings, Clic offers five models of cable covers in aluminum or brass, available in silver, black, or brass. These covers are 2 mm thick and align perfectly with the top panel’s surface, resting on two small plastic pins inserted into dedicated grooves. They can be installed or removed without tools and feature a discreetly engraved Clic logo. The five variants cover different situations: with a slot for cables, closed, adapted for a freestanding TV, compatible with a standard cable tray, or with a small cable tray.
The back plates can also be drilled to pass specific cables, or delivered without perforation with only a small finger hole to facilitate removal. This flexibility allows the unit to adapt to evolving setups without compromising visual appeal or functionality.
Finish palette and extensive customization
The Model 240 Large comes in six main finishes for wood surfaces and doors: white, black, grey, light grey, oak, or walnut. The first four correspond to polyurethane paints, while oak and walnut are wood veneers. Units painted in black, dark grey, or veneered in oak and walnut automatically receive black back plates, though it is possible to request a different configuration when ordering.
For fabric doors, the range includes ten colors: Coal (anthracite), Frost (pearl grey), Coffee (brown), Black (black), Dark Blue (dark blue), Concrete (concrete), Latte (milky beige), Basalt Grey (basalt grey), White (white), and Olive Green (olive green). These fabrics let sound pass while visually concealing speakers or equipment, preserving a clean interior without sacrificing acoustic quality.
This variety of finishes is paired with fully made-to-order production. Each unit is built to the client’s specifications, including the choice of doors, additional shelves, perforated or non-perforated back plates, the number of cable-routing openings, and mounting accessories.
Accessories and mounting options
The Model 240 Large can be installed in three ways: placed directly on the floor, raised on aluminum legs, or wall-mounted using a dedicated wall bracket. The aluminum legs, available in silver or black, are made from a single piece and feature adjustable feet to level the unit. A single set of legs is sufficient regardless of the model, and intermediate support legs are automatically supplied if the unit’s width requires them.
The wall bracket specific to the Model 240 Large (listed as Wall Bracket 4 in the Clic catalog) allows the unit to be fixed directly against the wall. This system offers level adjustment on two axes and enables the unit to be tightened fully against the wall once leveling is complete. The unit cannot fall or be lifted off the wall as long as the fasteners are tightened, ensuring maximum safety. Some Clic dealers offer an in-home installation service, and a detailed manual accompanies every order.
Clic also sells magnetic feet that allow two units from the range to be stacked. Each Clic model incorporates a concealed metal piece in the top panel’s corners, to which these magnetic feet attach. This solution makes it easy to create custom configurations that combine multiple widths or heights.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I remove the back plates if I need the full depth of the unit?
Yes, the back plates are held by magnets and can be easily removed from the front of the unit. The frame remains perfectly stable without them thanks to Clic’s specific construction technique. Without the back plates, the usable depth of the open compartments increases from 314 mm to 363 mm.
Do the fabric doors degrade the sound quality of speakers placed behind them?
Clic’s fabric doors are acoustically transparent, meaning they let sound pass without significant attenuation. They allow speakers to be visually concealed while preserving their performance. This solution is particularly suitable for home cinema setups where you want to maintain a clean interior without compromising sound reproduction.
Can the Model 240 Large be combined with other models in the Clic range?
Yes, Clic units are designed to be combined, either horizontally by placing them side by side, or vertically by stacking them using the specially designed magnetic feet. This modularity enables custom, scalable configurations tailored to the available space and storage needs. Clic offers 73 different models across 4 depths, 5 widths, and 5 heights.
Can shelves be added or removed later on?
The shelves are adjustable to three height positions inside each compartment, and additional shelves can be ordered after the initial purchase. The shelves are 16 mm thick and simply slot into the provided supports, making it easy to reposition them as your equipment evolves.
What is the difference between the Model 240 and the Model 240 Large?
The standard Model 240 has four compartments, while the Model 240 Large has three. Both models share the same total width of 2020 mm, but the Model 240 Large offers wider individual compartments (648 mm versus 482 mm), making it better suited to storing wide equipment or creating a dedicated space for a soundbar.
