Clic Classic Series Model 222-2
Overview
The Classic Series Model 222-2 is a audio-video cabinet handcrafted in Denmark. It features two modular compartments, a cable management system, and removable magnetic back panels for easy equipment access while maintaining aesthetics. At 102.4 cm wide, it’s part of a range of 55 models designed to suit hi-fi and home theater systems.
Handcrafted in Hornslet
All Clic furniture is handmade at the Hornslet factory in Denmark. This facility is also known for producing hi-fi speaker cabinets, which explains the meticulous attention to finishing. Production follows traditional cabinetmaking principles, with systematic quality control before shipping.
The manufacturing process uses a particular technique that allows for a stable frame without a fixed back panel. Developed by Clic, this method offers two advantages: it enables the installation of removable magnetic back plates, and it ensures structural strength even when the cabinet supports heavy loads. The paint is applied by hand after assembly, ensuring clean joints and perfectly defined edges. Doors and drawers are installed last, precisely adjusted according to each customer’s ordered configuration. All materials are sourced from Denmark.
The Model 222-2: two spaces, multiple configurations
The Model 222-2 consists of two identical compartments, each of which can be configured independently. A compartment can remain open, be fitted with a wooden or fabric door, or accommodate two drawers. Each space includes a shelf adjustable to three different heights and a removable back plate.
Internal dimensions vary depending on the chosen configuration. An open compartment offers 322 mm in height, 482 mm in width, and 489 mm in depth (538 mm without the back plate). With a door, the available depth is 473 mm (522 mm without the back plate). This 55 cm depth corresponds to the “Classic” format, the most generous in the range, capable of holding about 90 vinyl records if you opt for the “vinyl hole” system. The shelves are 16 mm thick and can be ordered in additional quantities.
The construction without a fixed back panel changes how you access the equipment. Instead of having to move the entire cabinet to plug in a cable, you simply remove the magnetic back plate, positioned 5 cm in from the rear edge. This solution provides sufficient working space to handle connectors while maintaining a tidy front view.
Cable management: a solution designed down to the last detail
The Model 222-2 incorporates a well-thought-out cable management system. A centered hole runs through the top panel, and another is located at the bottom of the cabinet. This layout facilitates vertical cable routing from one unit to another if you decide to stack multiple units using the magnetic feet. The top hole can be omitted at the time of order if your setup doesn’t need it.
The back plates themselves include cable pass-throughs, but can also be ordered without openings. Their magnetic mounting allows them to be removed in seconds. Clic also offers five models of cable covers in aluminum or brass, available in silver, black, or brass, with a discreet engraved logo. These cable covers ensure a clean visual transition between the cabinet and the wall.
This modular approach to cable management proves particularly useful when you change your setup. Instead of having to dismantle everything, you simply adapt the pass-throughs to suit the new equipment.
Finishes and customization
The Model 222-2 is available in four painted finishes—white, black, gray, and light gray—and in two wood veneers: oak or walnut. The paint used is a water-based formulation applied by hand, offering durability and color stability. Wooden doors follow the same finish options as the cabinet.
The fabric doors open up ten color possibilities: Coal, Frost, Coffee, Black, Dark Blue, Concrete, Latte, Basalt Grey, White, and Olive Green. These fabrics have the advantage of letting remote control signals pass through and not completely blocking sound, allowing you to control equipment and listen to music with the doors closed. This feature may seem minor, but it changes the day-to-day use of the cabinet.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do the fabric doors really let the remote control signal pass through?
Clic fabrics are acoustically transparent and allow infrared remote control signals to pass through. You can therefore control your equipment without opening the doors. This property also works for sound: speakers placed behind a fabric door remain audible, although the effect on acoustics should be considered depending on your listening setup.
How do the three available depths in the Classic range compare?
Clic offers depths of 37.5 cm, 45 cm, and 55 cm in its Classic series. The Model 222-2 belongs to the 55 cm range, the deepest, suited to large amplifiers and complete installations. The 37.5 cm models are suitable for compact equipment and digital sources, while the 45 cm models offer a compromise for most setups. The choice depends on your equipment dimensions and the depth available in your room.
Do cables remain visible despite the integrated management system?
The removable back plates, positioned 5 cm in from the edge, create a storage space for cables between the cabinet and the wall. Combined with the pass-throughs in the top and bottom panels, they allow cables to run vertically from one unit to another or down to the floor without being visible. The aluminum or brass cable covers complete the system for a neat exit on top of the cabinet. The setup works provided you allow a few centimeters between the cabinet and the wall.
Is it really safe to stack multiple Clic cabinets?
Metal inserts integrated into each corner of the top panel, combined with the dedicated magnetic feet, create a stable connection between two cabinets. This system is designed to allow vertical configurations without compromising safety. You can thus expand your setup by gradually adding modules as needed, mixing different models from the Classic range. The magnetic force holds the whole assembly together, yet the units can still be separated if necessary.
