Clic Classic Series Model 242
Overview
The Model 242 from Clic is an audio-video cabinet measuring 202 cm in width with four modular compartments. It features removable magnetic back plates, shelves adjustable to three heights, and an integrated cable management system. Handcrafted in Denmark, it offers a construction without a fixed back panel, allowing easy access to connections while maintaining stability.
Construction without fixed back panel and artisanal manufacturing
The Model 242 stands out through an uncommon construction method in the furniture industry. Clic employs a structural technique that achieves a stable frame without resorting to a traditional fixed back panel. This approach gives the cabinet sufficient strength to support significant loads, whether placed on the floor with feet or wall-mounted, while greatly facilitating access to connections and air circulation.
All materials come from Denmark, and each subcontractor is individually selected by Clic. After assembly, the cabinet receives a hand-applied polyurethane paint finish. This step, performed on the already assembled cabinet, produces sharp edges and perfectly sealed joints, details that industrial methods struggle to reproduce. Each cabinet undergoes meticulous quality control before shipping.
This artisanal manufacturing means that each Model 242 is produced to order, according to the customer’s exact specifications. Doors and drawers are adjusted to the precise dimensions of each compartment, ensuring smooth operation and a gap-free fit.
Four fully configurable compartments
The Model 242 offers four independent spaces that you can arrange according to your needs. Each compartment accommodates an adjustable shelf in three different positions, with the option to order additional ones. All shelves have a thickness of 16 mm.
You can choose for each compartment to leave it open, equip it with a wooden door (oak or walnut), or an acoustic fabric door. The fabric doors, available in ten different colors (Coal, Frost, Coffee, Black, Dark Blue, Concrete, Latte, Basalt Grey, White, Olive Green), allow you to conceal equipment without blocking infrared signals from remote controls or affecting sound diffusion. Each compartment can also accommodate up to two drawers, a practical solution for storing remote controls, accessories, or physical media.
Interior dimensions vary depending on the configuration: an open compartment offers 322 mm in height, 482 mm in width, and 489 mm in depth (538 mm without back plate). With a door installed, the usable depth becomes 473 mm (522 mm without back plate). These measurements accommodate the majority of audio-video equipment on the market.
Cable management designed down to the finest details
The Model 242’s cabling system avoids approximations. A cable pass-through is centered on the top shelf, while three others are integrated into the lower bottom of the cabinet. This configuration allows for clean connections between different equipment levels.
The back plates constitute the central element of this management. Mounted on magnets, they can be removed in seconds to access connections. Positioned 5 cm from the back of the cabinet, they create a concealment space for cables and promote air circulation. By default, these plates include openings for cable passage, but you can order them without holes if your installation doesn’t require rear connections.
Clic offers five models of cable covers in aluminum or brass, available in silver, black, or brass finishes. Each bears a discreet engraved Clic logo. These accessories transform cable outlets into decorative elements consistent with the entire cabinet.
Selected finishes and materials
The Model 242 comes in several finishes that determine its integration into your interior. The matte painted version exists in four shades: white, black, grey, and light grey. The wood veneer models offer oak or walnut. All these finishes receive a water-based paint, particularly resistant to wear and stable over time.
The polyurethane paint applied after assembly guarantees superior durability compared to finishes applied to separate panels. This more laborious method produces a homogeneous surface that ages better, without risk of color mismatch at joints. The edges remain sharp, even after several years of daily use.
For fabric doors, Clic offers ten colors covering neutral tones (Coal, Concrete, Frost) as well as more pronounced shades (Dark Blue, Olive Green). These acoustic fabrics allow sound and infrared signals to pass through while visually concealing the compartment contents.
Installation options and stability
The Model 242 can be installed in two main ways. On the floor, it rests on Clic Alu Stands feet, machined from a single piece of aluminum. Only one set of feet is needed, regardless of the cabinet’s width. If the model requires reinforcement supports, these are automatically included in the order. All feet feature adjustable bases to compensate for floor irregularities and adjust height. They are available in silver or black finishes.
For wall installation, the Clic Wall Bracket system allows you to mount the cabinet directly against the wall. The bracket allows for two adjustment levels: horizontal leveling and complete wall alignment. This dual capability ensures secure mounting even on slightly irregular walls.
The construction without a fixed back panel and the weight distribution give the Model 242 stability suited to heavy loads, whether you place amplifiers, players, or speakers in it. Load tests confirm that the cabinet maintains its structural rigidity in both installation modes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add additional shelves in each compartment?
Yes, additional shelves are available as an option. Each compartment accepts multiple shelves adjustable to three positions. This flexibility allows you to adapt the available height to your specific equipment or create storage levels for objects of different sizes.
Do fabric doors allow remote control signals to pass through?
Acoustic fabric doors are designed to remain permeable to infrared signals. You can control your devices without opening the doors. These textiles also allow sound to pass through, which permits the installation of speakers or soundbars behind the doors without audible alteration.
How do I remove the back plates to access cables?
The back plates are attached by magnets. You simply remove them by pulling them toward you, without tools or complex manipulation. Their offset position of 5 cm creates a space where you can route and organize cables before replacing the plate.
Can the cabinet support the weight of a television?
The Model 242’s structure is designed to carry significant loads. The top shelf easily accommodates a medium-sized television. If you plan to install a particularly heavy screen, verify compatibility with the model’s load characteristics or consider an independent wall mount.
What is the difference between the Model 242 and the 242 Center or 242 Large variants?
The standard Model 242 has four compartments of equal width. The 242 Center features three spaces: a wide one in the center flanked by two smaller ones, a configuration suited to soundbars. The 242 Large has three enlarged compartments that cannot accommodate drawers. Each variant addresses specific layout needs.
Are aluminum or brass cable covers necessary?
Cable covers are optional accessories. The cabinet functions perfectly without them, but they provide an aesthetic finish to cable outlets. If the polished appearance of connections matters to you, the five available models offer elegant solutions in three finishes (silver, black, brass).
