Unnu Classic Series Model 211 large
Overview
Unnu’s Model 211 Large embodies the Danish approach to storage for hi-fi and home theater gear: a single 68.9 cm wide compartment designed to conceal your components while keeping them accessible. Made of 16 mm lacquered MDF with metal reinforcements, this modular unit lets you choose between an open compartment, a door with acoustically transparent fabric, or a solid wood door.
Built to last
The Model 211 Large is built on a 16 mm MDF structure coated with a polyurethane paint that resists scratches and fading. Each compartment is reinforced by four specially designed metal brackets, mounted at the rear of the unit. This technique, borrowed from Clic, removes the need for a fixed back panel and gives the unit surprising rigidity despite using fiberboard rather than solid wood.
External dimensions are 354 mm high, 689 mm wide, and 450 mm deep. Inside, you have 322 mm of height, 656 mm of width, and 378 mm of usable depth. An adjustable shelf with three different positions lets you tailor the space to your components’ size. Additional shelves are available as an option if you want to add more storage levels
Invisible cabling and simplified access
The Model 211 Large features two circular cable pass-throughs: one in the top panel and one in the bottom panel, both centered. This setup makes vertical cable routing easy when several units are stacked or placed side by side.
The back panel deserves special attention. Unlike standard furniture, it isn’t screwed in place but magnetically attached 5 cm from the rear of the unit. This spacing creates a hidden cable corridor between the panel and the rear wall of the compartment, allowing cables to run up or down without being visible from the outside. When you need to hook up a new device or change a connection, the panel comes off in seconds without tools.
Fabric doors: the balance between discretion and functionality
One of Unnu’s signatures lies in its fabric doors. These doors, made from a black MDF frame with fabric stretched over it and edged with a black cord, hide your components while allowing sound and infrared remote signals to pass through. You can control your amplifier, network player, or other devices from your sofa with the doors closed, without muffling the music or sound.
Unnu offers nine fabric colors across two series. The Mélange series includes coal, concrete, frost, coffee, and latte—mineral and natural tones. The Basic series offers white, silver, black, and grey—classic neutrals. Note that the white fabric is more prone to staining, so it’s best reserved for compartments housing devices you don’t open daily.
If you prefer an opaque closure, lacquered or veneered wood doors are also available. You can also leave the compartment completely open for immediate access to your equipment.
Finishes and customization
The Model 211 Large comes in four finishes: white lacquer, black lacquer, oak veneer, and walnut veneer. Wood doors follow the same finish options. This palette lets you match the unit to your interior, whether it’s sleek and contemporary or warmer with natural materials.
Several installation solutions are available. The unit can simply rest on the floor, but Unnu also offers machined aluminum feet with height adjustment (available in silver and black) or a full base consisting of two end caps and two aluminum crossbars, raising the unit by 19 cm. Wall mounts let you hang the unit with an adjustable system that ensures it’s level and stable.
Aluminum cable cover plates engraved with the Unnu logo cap the circular openings in the top panel for a cleaner look when not all cable holes are in use. Four types of plates are offered, all compatible with the entire Unnu range.
A modular range to build around your needs
The Model 211 is one of the basic modules in the Classic Series. Other models exist, such as the 211 LP with an open upper section for storing around 80 records, or wider and taller versions to accommodate more gear. All share the same philosophy: independent modules you can combine horizontally or vertically as your needs evolve.
This modularity avoids premature obsolescence. If you add a new network player or a subwoofer, you can simply purchase an additional module rather than replacing all your furniture.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the fabric door really affect the sound?
No. The fabric used by Unnu is sufficiently open to let sound waves pass without perceptible attenuation. You can listen to music with the doors closed without degrading sound quality. Infrared remote signals also pass through the fabric, allowing you to control your devices without opening the door.
Can multiple Model 211 Large units be stacked?
Yes, that’s one of Unnu’s core design principles. The cable pass-throughs in the top and bottom panels allow connections to route from one module to the next. You can create a storage column by stacking several Model 211 Large units, provided they’re secured properly (wall mounting is recommended for more than two stacked modules).
What’s the difference between the Model 211 and the Model 211 Large?
The two names appear to refer to the same product in Unnu’s documentation. The term “Large” is used to distinguish this 68.9 cm wide version from other, more compact or specialized variants in the 211 range, such as the 211 LP dedicated to record storage and narrower (51.7 cm).
