Overview
The ArtSound ASW800 is a two-way bass-reflex projector speaker from the Outsiders range, certified IP67. It combines an 8-inch woofer with a polypropylene cone and a 1-inch silk dome tweeter. Designed for areas of around 65 m², it is resistant to UV, bad weather, and temperature variations, allowing permanent installation. Its 180° adjustable wall mount and sealable front port offer flexible installation options.
Cylindrical construction and weather-resistant materials
The ASW800 features a cylindrical ABS enclosure protected by an aluminum grille. This organic design incorporates the latest technological innovations to deliver sound coverage suitable for large areas, both indoors and outdoors.
The speaker meets the IP67 protection rating, making it resistant to rain, snow, dust, and wind. It also withstands UV rays and extreme temperatures, allowing permanent outdoor installation all year round.
This robustness means it can be installed near a swimming pool or water feature without risk of damage. The cylindrical body plays an acoustic role: it focuses and projects sound waves over long distances, making it suitable both for music playback and for announcements or functional messages.
Two-way bass-reflex acoustic system
The acoustic system is based on two transducers:

8-inch (20 cm) woofer: the polypropylene cone combines lightness and rigidity. This material offers excellent resistance to extreme weather conditions. The cone is mounted on a foam surround allowing a wide excursion while limiting distortion.

1-inch (2.54 cm) tweeter: this dome tweeter is driven by a neodymium magnet. This type of magnet, compact and powerful, enables a fast response in the high frequencies.
The 8-inch driver is patented by ArtSound. An integrated ArtSound crossover ensures tonal balance between the two drivers.
The bass-reflex loading improves low-frequency efficiency, which is often a challenge outdoors where the absence of reflective surfaces penalizes bass response. The front port can be sealed as needed. This option is useful when the speaker is installed in a semi-enclosed space: plugging the port helps tame any excessive bass.
Installation and positioning
The speaker comes with a mounting bracket that allows it to be installed on any wall, beam, or under-eave. This bracket can be used to position the speaker vertically or horizontally.
Thanks to its flexible sliding bracket, the speaker can be aimed in virtually any direction. The bracket also allows you to tilt the speaker according to the space where it is mounted, offering very versatile application possibilities.
This positioning flexibility lets you direct the sound beam towards the desired listening area, whether it is a terrace, garden, conservatory, or an indoor space requiring focused coverage.
The ASW800 in the Outsiders range
The ASW800 sits at the top of ArtSound’s Outsiders range. ArtSound presents it as the flagship of its waterproof series.
Compared with the ASW550, which features a 5.25-inch woofer and covers up to 55 m², the ASW800 gains in power handling and coverage capacity thanks to its 8-inch woofer. The ASW550 offers a sensitivity of 84 dB and a frequency response starting at 75 Hz, whereas the ASW800 extends down to 65 Hz with a sensitivity of 87 dB. These extra 3 dB mean that, at the same power level, the ASW800 will produce a noticeably higher sound level.
The ASW65.2 and ASW55.2 models offer an indoor/outdoor switch that the ASW800 lacks, but the latter makes up for this with its IP67 sealing, superior to the IP54 ratings of those models.
