ArtSound FL30 (pack of 2)

No bigger than a spotlight, the FL30 belongs to the Flat series from Belgian manufacturer ArtSound. Its miniature size, 100 mm in diameter and only 52 mm deep, allows it to fit into thin ceilings or partitions where conventional speakers won’t fit. The 76 mm full-range carbon polypropylene driver delivers an extended range from 150 Hz to 20 kHz, sufficient to play background music with surprising clarity given its dimensions.

A grille that disappears into the décor

The philosophy behind the Flat range is all about absolute discretion. The grille frame is only one millimetre wide and four millimetres thick, so the speaker blends into the ceiling like a simple light fixture. This metal grille, held in place by a magnetic system, can be removed for painting in the colour of your choice. Once matched to the ceiling or wall, the FL30 becomes almost invisible.

Simplified installation in thin partitions

With a cutout of just 85 mm and an installation depth of 5.2 cm, the FL30 fits easily into a standard drywall partition. The mounting system with adjustment screws allows quick installation without specialised tools: position the speaker, tighten the mounting clamps, then clip on the magnetic grille. The ABS enclosure remains lightweight (350 grams), which reduces stress on the mounting surfaces.

An efficient full-range driver

The 76 mm driver with carbon-reinforced polypropylene cone covers most of the audible spectrum without requiring complex crossover filtering. Its 90 dB sensitivity allows for comfortable sound levels with modest amplification: 10 to 50 watts at 8 ohms is enough. The frequency response starts at 150 Hz, which is suitable for voice and background music. For more demanding music listening or a home cinema setup (as an Atmos or in‑ceiling surround speaker), adding a subwoofer will compensate for the missing low end.

Where and how to use it

The FL30 naturally finds its place in smaller spaces where background music improves comfort without drawing attention. A kitchen, bathroom, toilet, hallway, office, or waiting room will all benefit from its compact size and visual discretion. In professional environments—retail stores, medical practices, hotel rooms—several pairs of FL30 speakers distributed across the ceiling provide even coverage over an area of up to 30 m² per speaker.

As a passive speaker, the FL30 requires an external amplifier. It connects via standard speaker cable and integrates easily with other models in the Flat range or with various sources (stereo amp, multiroom amp, home cinema receiver). For 100‑volt line installations, ArtSound offers a variant called the FL30T.
