ArtSound HPRO525 (pack of 2)
Overview
A frame barely one millimeter thick, a magnetic grille with a satin finish, and a patented mounting system: the HPRO525 is part of the Happi series, whose Finnish-inspired name evokes oxygen and lightness. This round 5.25-inch coaxial two-way in-ceiling speaker focuses on visual discretion while delivering refined sound reproduction, capable of covering areas of up to 50 m².
A design meant to fade into the décor
The ultra-thin outer ring of the HPRO525 — just one millimeter — allows it to blend into any ceiling or partition. The aluminum grille has a smooth, uniform surface, with no visible screws or clips thanks to the magnetic mounting system. For even more seamless integration, this grille can be painted to perfectly match the color of the mounting surface. A black grille is also available as an option for installations against dark backgrounds.
The entire structure is based on an ABS chassis and an aluminum grille that combine lightness (1.1 kg per speaker) and durability. The 180 mm cutout diameter and 80 mm mounting depth make installation easy in most suspended-ceiling configurations.
Two-way acoustic configuration
The HPRO525 uses a coaxial architecture in which the 0.75-inch aluminum dome tweeter is positioned at the center of the 5.25-inch woofer. The latter features an aluminum cone with a rubber surround, a choice of materials that promotes both the rigidity needed for precision and the flexibility required for air displacement in the low-frequency range.
The tweeter, equipped with a neodymium magnet, can swivel to direct the high frequencies toward the listening area. This adjustment capability is particularly useful when the speaker is not installed directly above the main listening position. An integrated passive crossover distributes frequencies between the two drivers over a range from 60 Hz to 20 kHz.
Treatment suited to humid environments
ArtSound positions the Happi series as splash-resistant rather than fully waterproof. The woofer’s aluminum cone and the metal grille can withstand the ambient humidity of a bathroom, kitchen, or covered terrace. This design also avoids the nasal sound sometimes associated with in-ceiling speakers designed for damp environments, where treated diaphragms can compromise reproduction quality.
For outdoor installations directly exposed to the elements, ArtSound nonetheless recommends its specifically waterproof range.
Simplified installation with a patented system
Installing the HPRO525 relies on a patented wing-clamp mechanism that allows you to secure the speaker from the front, without access to the back of the mounting surface. Once the cutout hole has been made using the supplied template, the speaker is positioned and locked in place with a few turns. The magnetic grille then snaps into place without any tools.
To optimize acoustic performance, the KITRO4 kit (sold separately) allows you to create a sealed volume behind the speaker. This moisture-resistant MDF back box absorbs rear waves and eliminates unwanted resonances that can occur when the speaker opens into a plenum or untreated loft space.
Power and compatibility
With an impedance of 8 ohms and a sensitivity of 88 dB, the HPRO525 accepts amplifier power from 10 to 100 watts. It connects to any hi-fi or multiroom amplifier with standard speaker outputs. ArtSound notably offers the Smart Hyde pack, which pairs this speaker with a compact amplifier compatible with major streaming services.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the HPRO525 be installed in a shower or right next to a water source?
The HPRO525 is resistant to splashes and ambient humidity but is not designed for direct exposure to water. In a bathroom, it is perfectly suitable for installation in the main ceiling area of the room, at a reasonable distance from the shower or bathtub. For installation above an open shower, ArtSound recommends its fully waterproof certified models.
Which amplifier should I choose to power a pair of HPRO525 speakers?
Any stereo or multiroom amplifier delivering between 10 and 100 watts into 8 ohms is suitable. A device providing 30 to 50 watts per channel is usually sufficient for a standard living space. Compact multiroom amplifiers such as ArtSound’s Smart Hyde allow you to add streaming without a complex installation.
Is the KITRO4 acoustic kit essential?
No, but it significantly improves bass response and overall definition. When the speaker is installed in a suspended ceiling that opens onto a large volume (attic, technical plenum), low frequencies tend to disperse and resonances can occur. The KITRO4 creates a controlled sealed enclosure that resolves these issues.
What is the difference between the HPRO525 and the HPSQ525?
These two models share the same drivers and the same acoustic performance. The only difference lies in the shape: round for the HPRO525, square for the HPSQ525. The choice depends on the desired aesthetics and the ceiling configuration.
