ArtSound HPRO550

A single installation point for true stereo sound: that’s what this speaker from the Happi series offers, its Finnish-inspired name evoking oxygen and the outdoors. Thanks to its dual tweeter and dual connections, the HPRO550 reproduces both audio channels from a single ceiling cutout. It’s a solution that naturally finds its place in kitchens, bathrooms, or covered areas where wiring or layout only allow for one mounting point.

A stereo effect from a single location

The principle is simple but effective: two 0.75-inch aluminum-dome tweeters with neodymium magnets, each independently adjustable, paired with a 5.25-inch coaxial woofer. The tweeters can be pivoted to direct sound towards different listening areas, creating a wider soundstage without needing two separate speakers. The wiring includes two pairs of connections, one for each channel.

This single-point stereo configuration is particularly suitable for rooms where you move around — such as the kitchen while preparing meals or the bathroom — rather than setups where the listener remains in a fixed position. The stated coverage reaches 50 m², which corresponds to most medium-sized domestic spaces.

Designed for humid environments

The Happi series stands out for its resistance to humidity, achieved through careful material selection. The aluminum woofer cone and grille repel water splashes and cooking vapors. The ABS chassis completes the construction. ArtSound describes these speakers as water-repellent rather than waterproof: they withstand ambient humidity and occasional splashes, but not direct exposure to rain or installation inside a shower.

Suitable areas therefore include bathrooms (outside the shower enclosure), kitchens, laundry rooms, as well as covered terraces, pool houses, or verandas — anywhere the speaker remains protected from direct weather exposure.

Near-invisible ceiling integration

With a peripheral frame barely one millimeter thick, the HPRO550 virtually disappears into the ceiling. The smooth, satin-finish grille is held in place by integrated magnets, with no visible screws or clips. It can be removed with a simple pull to access the tweeter settings or for cleaning, and goes back just as easily.

The original white finish is paintable: a few coats in the ceiling color are enough to make the speaker blend completely into its surroundings. The 180 mm cutout diameter and 80 mm depth allow installation in most standard suspended ceilings. A patented screw-mount system speeds up installation once the cutout has been made.

Sound reproduction and power handling

The frequency response ranges from 60 Hz to 20 kHz, with a sensitivity of 88 dB and an impedance of 8 ohms. These values place the HPRO550 within a range compatible with the vast majority of hi-fi and home cinema amplifiers on the market. The recommended amplifier power is between 10 and 100 watts, giving ample headroom to adjust volume to room size.

ArtSound equips its Happi speakers with a passive crossover that distributes frequencies between the woofer and tweeters. The Belgian manufacturer emphasizes the warmth of the sound produced, in contrast to the sometimes nasal character of other moisture-resistant speakers. The aluminum woofer cone and its rubber surround contribute to this sonic signature.
