A grille that measures just one millimeter. A total thickness of less than five millimeters. Two years of development to achieve this result. The RE2060 belongs to the Intiimi series, whose Finnish name evokes purity and intimacy. This rectangular 2-way model brings together the range’s neodymium-magnet, titanium-diaphragm drivers in a format capable of sound coverage for spaces up to 50 m².

One-piece molded design

The front baffle and chassis of the RE2060 form a single unit. This manufacturing process eliminates joints that could generate unwanted vibrations and ensures uniform structural rigidity. The ABS enclosure houses the two drivers in an optimized volume, while the ultra-fine mesh metal grille ensures smooth acoustic dispersion and protects the speakers from dust.

This construction approach results in remarkable visual discretion. Once installed, the RE2060 barely protrudes from the surface of the wall or ceiling. The grille can be repainted to match any interior finish, and optional flush-mount kits are available for perfectly level integration with the partition.

Titanium drivers and patented suspension

The 15 cm woofer with a neodymium magnet handles the bass and midrange. Using neodymium makes it possible to obtain a powerful motor in a compact footprint, which helps keep the mounting depth to just 85 mm.

The 25 mm titanium dome tweeter features a patented suspension design. Its special feature: it can swivel to direct high-frequency dispersion toward the main listening area. This is particularly useful when architectural constraints require the speakers to be positioned off-center relative to the listener.

Two-stage crossover

The RE2060 incorporates a crossover network that combines a dividing filter with a correction filter. The first distributes frequencies between the woofer and the tweeter with a slope tailored to each driver’s characteristics. The second fine-tunes the response curve to reduce any coloration and smooth the transitions between frequency ranges.

The result, described by ArtSound as “warm and detailed,” is characterized by a carefully balanced tonal response and dynamic reproduction. The frequency range extends from 58 Hz to 20 kHz, with a sensitivity of 87 dB and an impedance that varies between 4 and 8 ohms depending on frequency.

Amplification and installation

The recommended amplifier power ranges from 40 to 140 W. A sufficiently robust amplifier will allow you to fully exploit the speaker’s dynamic capabilities, especially for movie viewing or high-volume listening in large rooms.

Installation requires a rectangular cutout of 270 × 180 mm. With a unit weight of 1.8 kg, the RE2060 remains easy to handle and hold in place during mounting. The speaker is equally suitable for wall mounting or ceiling integration, offering various possibilities depending on the room layout.

Positioning within the Intiimi range

The Intiimi series includes several variants. The more compact RE2040, with its 10 cm woofer, covers areas up to 40 m² and requires less mounting depth. The RE2080, a three-way model with a dedicated midrange driver and a 20 cm woofer, takes things up a notch in power (160 W) and low-frequency extension. Round (RO) and square (SQ) versions are also available to suit different aesthetic preferences.

The RE2060 occupies the middle position in the rectangular range: it offers more low-end authority and higher sound levels than the RE2040, while remaining more discreet and less expensive than the RE2080. It is a relevant compromise for medium to large living spaces.
