Canton Inceiling 845 (pack of 2)
Overview
Canton positions the Inceiling 845 at the heart of its range of in-wall speakers, between the entry-level models (4xx series) and the high-end references (9xx series). This 19 cm, two-way coaxial model relies on aluminum drivers and a design geared toward professional installation, with the option to operate in either 8 Ohm or 100V mode depending on requirements.
A coaxial system with pivoting tweeter
The coaxial configuration places the 25 mm tweeter at the center of the 135 mm mid/bass driver. This technical choice is no coincidence: it ensures that the high and mid frequencies come from the same point in space, which improves sonic coherence regardless of the listener’s position in the room.
The tweeter is mounted on a pivoting mechanism that allows it to be aimed toward the main listening area. This is a useful feature when the ideal installation location doesn’t line up exactly with the sofa or the table. The tweeter level adjustment, accessible via a switch, compensates for acoustic variations related to the room (reflective surfaces, proximity to walls, ceiling height).
All‑aluminum construction
Canton equips the Inceiling 845 with aluminum cones for both drivers. This material, stiffer than the polypropylene used on entry-level models, reduces distortion at high power and promotes precise midrange reproduction. The stated frequency response extends from 50 Hz to 40,000 Hz, with a sensitivity of 86.5 dB/W/m.
The metal grille is held in place magnetically: no visible clips, easy removal to access the tweeter adjustment or to paint the grille to match the ceiling.
Installation designed for professionals
With a mounting depth of 7.5 cm and a cutout of 15 cm, the Inceiling 845 fits into most standard suspended ceilings (maximum thickness 4 cm). Easy Link terminals make it easier to wire several speakers in series on the same circuit.
The dual 8 Ohm / 100V compatibility broadens the range of applications. The 8 Ohm mode is suitable for typical home installations with a hi-fi or home-cinema amplifier. The 100V mode is intended for commercial setups where multiple speakers share a long audio distribution line (restaurants, hotels, offices).
Power and limitations
With 50 W nominal power and 100 W peak, the Inceiling 845 can handle the sound levels of a multiroom system or a home-cinema setup used for effect channels. For deeper bass below 50 Hz, adding a subwoofer is still necessary, as with any speaker of this format.
The 8 Ohm impedance makes it easy to pair with most amplifiers on the market, including Canton’s Smart Amp 5.1, which can drive up to six passive speakers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Inceiling 845 grille be painted?
The magnetic metal grille is designed to be painted. Canton recommends using acrylic paint applied in thin coats so as not to clog the perforations. Magnetic removal makes the process simple: just pull gently on the grille to detach it.
Which amplifier should I choose to power this speaker?
Any amplifier capable of delivering between 30 and 100 W into 8 Ohms is suitable. Canton offers the Smart Amp 5.1 for multichannel home-cinema setups, but a conventional stereo amp or an AV receiver will also work. In 100V mode, a dedicated line amplifier is required.
Can the Inceiling 845 operate on its own in mono?
Yes, but the two inputs on the terminal block must be bridged. Canton does not provide a mono/stereo switch on this model: bridging is done manually at the terminals. Be sure to check impedance compatibility with the amplifier when using it in mono.
What’s the difference compared with the Inceiling 865?
The Inceiling 865 uses a 165 mm mid/bass driver versus 135 mm on the 845. Its overall diameter increases to 24.5 cm (20 cm cutout) and its bass response extends slightly lower. The 845 remains more discreet visually and is better suited to confined spaces.
Is this speaker suitable for a Dolby Atmos system?
Yes, the Inceiling 845 can be used as a ceiling speaker for Atmos (height) channels. Its coaxial design with pivoting tweeter lets you direct the highs toward the listening area, which improves the precision of height effect localization.
What cable should be used for connection?
Canton recommends a cable with a minimum cross-section of 1.5 mm² for lengths up to 10 meters, and 2.5 mm² beyond that. The terminals accept banana plugs, spades, or bare wire. Easy Link connectors simplify daisy-chaining from one speaker to another.
