Canton Smart Remote Control

Canton has developed its Smart ecosystem around wireless active speakers, soundbars, and connected amplifiers. This infrared remote control, sold separately, addresses a simple need: controlling all these devices from a single physical accessory, without always having to go through the mobile app or the touch controls on the speakers.

One remote control, several compatible devices

The Smart Remote Control works with the entire Canton Smart range. It controls the Smart Soundbar 9 and 10 soundbars, the compact Smart Soundbox 3 speakers, the Smart Vento 3 and 9 floorstanding speakers, as well as the Smart Connect 5.1 and Smart Amp 5.1 amplifiers. This versatility avoids having to accumulate several remotes if your setup includes multiple Smart products spread across different rooms.

The remote handles common audio functions: volume, source selection, play and pause. It also provides direct access to system settings, which can be faster than navigating through menus via the Canton Smart app.

Three preset buttons for direct access

The three preset buttons store complete configurations. You can assign a Spotify playlist, an internet radio station, or a specific sound setting saved on your speaker. A single press is enough to retrieve your favorite content without touching your phone.

This feature requires that the presets have been configured beforehand on the Smart device itself, via its touch panel or the app. The remote recalls these memories; it does not create them.

Compact format and handling

With dimensions of 5 × 13 × 1.3 cm and a weight of 126 grams, the remote fits comfortably in one hand. The matte black finish matches the understated aesthetic of Canton’s Smart products. The button layout follows a classic vertical logic: navigation at the top, volume in the center, presets at the bottom.

Canton claims a robust design, but the remote remains an entry-level accessory within the catalog. It uses standard batteries and communicates via infrared, which means you need to point it at the device without obstacles.

Interaction with the IR Learning function

Canton’s Smart devices include an infrared learning feature. It allows your speakers or soundbars to learn the commands from another remote control, such as your TV remote. In this case, the Smart Remote Control is used to program these mappings: you access the device’s IR Learning menu via this remote, then you “teach” it the signals from your TV remote.

This setup can seem technical, but Canton explains the procedure in the manuals for the Smart products. Once configured, you can control the volume of your Canton speakers directly from your TV remote.
