DEVIALET Remote Deep Forest
Overview
Controlling a Phantom speaker or a Dione soundbar without pulling out your smartphone: that’s exactly what the Remote is for. This compact disc, measuring 80 mm across and weighing 146 g, fits in the palm of your hand, recharges roughly every three months, and communicates via Bluetooth 5.0 BLE up to 20 meters away. The Deep Forest finish, with its ultra-matte dark green shade, was designed to complement the Phantom Ultimate range.
An object to handle, not just look at
The Remote has abandoned the spherical shape of the first generation in favor of a flat, round pebble shape, easier to grasp and place on a coffee table or cabinet. The stainless steel ring surrounding the body acts as a volume wheel: you turn it with your fingertip to adjust the sound level with fine precision. The rotation is smooth, calibrated, with no notches or excessive resistance. Three capacitive touch buttons occupy the top surface: play/pause, previous track, next track. A long press on the Devialet logo triggers standby mode (and, on Phantom Ultimate speakers, wakes the speaker). A small central LED display shows the volume level in real time.
No physical buttons, no clicks: interaction is silent. On the other hand, the touch controls require a deliberate gesture to avoid accidental activation, which may be surprising the first few times.
Bluetooth BLE and proximity pairing
The connection relies on low-energy Bluetooth 5.0 (BLE), on the 2.4 GHz band. The stated range is 20 meters, making it possible to control the speaker from a neighboring room without any major obstacle. Pairing is automatic: you simply place the Remote near the compatible Devialet device. No code to enter, no handling required in the app.
The BLE protocol has one practical advantage over infrared: there is no need to point at the speaker. The remote works regardless of its orientation in the room.
Compatibility with the Devialet ecosystem
The Deep Forest Remote controls the full range of Phantom speakers (Phantom II 95 dB and 98 dB, Phantom I 103 dB and 108 dB, Phantom Ultimate 98 dB and 108 dB) and the Devialet Dione soundbar. The available functions are the same regardless of the model, with one exception: on Phantom I and II, the Remote can turn the speaker off but cannot turn it back on; on Phantom Ultimate, it also handles wake-up from standby.
In a stereo setup, a single Remote is enough to control both speakers in sync. You can also use several Remotes on the same pair, each remaining synchronized with the others. However, the remote can only be paired with one device (or one stereo pair) at a time.
Deep Forest: a finish coordinated with the Phantom Ultimate range
The Deep Forest finish uses the shade developed for Phantom Ultimate: a very dark green, almost black, with organic nuances that change depending on the light. Devialet describes this color as a bolder version of classic black. The paint is ultra-matte (RAL DESIGN reference 140 20 05 on the speakers), giving it a slightly velvety feel and limiting fingerprints. Light Pearl, Iconic White, and Matte Black finishes are also available to match the Remote to the other models in the range.
Battery life and charging
The built-in battery offers approximately three months of battery life in typical use, according to Devialet. Charging is done via the micro-USB cable included in the box; allow one to two hours for a full charge. The choice of micro-USB, rather than USB-C, now standard on most devices, is worth noting.
The Remote receives software updates over time. During the download, the LED display shows a downward arrow to indicate the operation in progress.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Deep Forest Remote technically different from the other colors?
No. Devialet confirms it: the hardware and software are identical from one finish to another. Only the color changes. The choice of color depends on the speaker you want to match: Deep Forest and Light Pearl for Phantom Ultimate, Iconic White and Matte Black for Phantom I, Phantom II, and Dione.
How do you reset the Remote to pair it with a new device?
You need to press the “previous track” and “next track” buttons simultaneously for three seconds. The display will then show a pairing icon. Then all you have to do is bring the Remote close to the new Devialet device.
Does the Remote work with older Phantom speakers running Spark (DOS 1)?
No. The Remote requires the DOS 2 system, controlled by the Devialet app. Phantom speakers still running Spark (DOS 1) are not supported.
Can you control two rooms or two separate stereo pairs with a single Remote?
No. A Remote can only be paired with one product or one stereo pair at a time. To control two separate setups, you need two remotes.
Does the LED display stay on all the time?
No. The display activates during use (volume change, playback control) and turns off after a few seconds of inactivity to preserve battery life.
