Oray Mini Pantograph 30
Oray Mini Pantograph 30, motorized drop for video projector
Installing a video projector under a very high ceiling, or hiding it in a suspended ceiling between viewing sessions, quickly makes access to the unit and its alignment more complicated. The Mini Pantograph 30 addresses this situation: a scissor-lift mechanism that lowers the projector to the right height, then raises it out of sight once the projection is over. It supports up to 30 kg and comes in four travel lengths, from 1 to 4 meters.
Lower the projector without touching it
The principle is mechanical and simple. Two articulated scissor arms deploy vertically beneath a plate fixed to the ceiling, lowering the projector well below its mounting point. When the power is cut, the mechanism folds back up and returns the unit against the ceiling.
Two situations justify this type of mount. The first: a ceiling that is too high for a conventional mount, where the projector has to be lowered by several meters to recover the correct projection geometry. The second: the desire to completely conceal the video projector in a suspended ceiling when not in use, so that nothing shows on the ceiling of a living room or meeting room.
Four travel lengths in the catalog
The choice is based on the travel length, that is, the lowering distance. Four references cover common needs, from simply distancing the unit from the ceiling to very great heights.
| Reference | Travel (drop) | Folded height | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| SVP0501 | 1 m | 16 cm | 20 kg |
| SVP0504 | 4 m | 28 cm | 28 kg |
The greater the travel, the thicker the folded mechanism remains, from 16 cm for the 1-meter version to 28 cm for the 4-meter version. This detail matters when planning the housing for the mount, especially in a suspended ceiling where every centimeter of drop counts. The weight of the mount alone also increases with the travel, from 20 to 28 kg, a load to add to that of the projector when sizing the ceiling fixing.
Motorization and remote control
A single-phase electric motor handles lowering and raising. It is powered at 250 volts, 50 hertz, with a power consumption of 220 watts. The current is standard household power, but connection to the mains and to the control box is part of a fixed installation, not a simple plug-in connection.
Control is via a radio remote with three commands: up, down, and stop. Three adjustable “limit switches,” set from the control box, define the stop positions at the top and bottom of the travel. Once these stops are set, the projector always returns to the same position, without any further adjustment.
Mounting, dimensions, and suspended ceiling
The mount consists of two plates. The base plate, the one screwed to the ceiling or load-bearing structure, measures 50 by 40 cm, with fixing center distances of 42 by 36 cm. The upper plate, on which the projector is mounted, measures 71.2 by 46 cm overall. These dimensions determine the footprint on the ceiling and the available surface for the video projector mounting plate.
For integration into a suspended ceiling, Oray offers a dedicated bracket (reference SVP0PTPAT01), a tile mounting kit: the mechanism is then housed above the suspended ceiling and appears only when lowering. That said, the whole assembly, given its weight, the electrical connection, and the setting of the limit switches, requires careful installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the projector lower straight down without becoming misaligned?
Yes. The plate that supports the projector remains level throughout the entire travel, so the image stays aligned from one descent to the next. The geometric adjustment is done only once, during initial setup.
How do I choose the stroke length for my part?
Start with the ceiling height and the position where the projector needs to be once lowered. The difference between the two gives the usable drop. A living room ceiling is often fine with the 1- or 2-meter version, while a hall, an auditorium, or a room with a cathedral ceiling calls for 3- or 4-meter drops.
Does the installation require an electrical connection?
Yes. The motor is hardwired to the mains, with its control box, rather than plugged into a simple outlet. Installation and adjustment of the end stops are best entrusted to a qualified installer.
Does the radio remote control work without direct line of sight?
Radio transmission does not require line of sight, unlike infrared. The control signal therefore works even when the mechanism is retracted and the projector is hidden above a suspended ceiling.
Does the Mini Pantograph 30 fold completely flat against the ceiling?
No. Even when folded, the mechanism retains the thickness indicated in the reference table, from 16 to 28 cm depending on the travel. In surface-mounted installation, this drop remains visible below the ceiling; only installation in a false ceiling conceals it.
How is the projector attached to the mount?
The projector mounts onto the top plate. Depending on the model, check that its mounting hole spacing and bracket are compatible with this plate, and if necessary, provide the appropriate hardware or adapter.
