EverSolo PLAY + SE-100 white
Eversolo Play + SE100, the three-piece connected hi-fi system
A unit measuring 23 cm on each side and two square speakers are all it takes to build a complete hi-fi system here. The Play combines a network player, DAC and amplifier, while the SE100 handle sound reproduction. Both come from the same manufacturer, share the same 4-ohm impedance and accept sound from a television just as readily as from a turntable or an online music service.
An amplifier that finds music on its own
Connected to the home network via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable, the Play streams directly from TIDAL, Qobuz, Deezer, Amazon Music, Apple Music, HIGHRESAUDIO, IDAGIO, Presto Music and SoundCloud, as well as Internet radio from TuneIn, Radio Paradise or Calm Radio. Everything is controlled from the 14 cm front-panel touchscreen, which also displays album artwork, or from the Eversolo app for iOS and Android. Those who prefer their music service’s app can start playback via Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect or Qobuz Connect. The Play is also Roon Ready and plays files from a server or network drive via UPnP/DLNA.
Digital-to-analogue signal conversion relies on an AKM AK4493SEQ chip. Over the network and via USB, the Play accepts files up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD512, the high-resolution format derived from SACD. These specifications far exceed CD quality (16-bit/44.1 kHz) and cover everything currently offered by high-resolution streaming platforms and download sites.
The television, turntable and phone on the same device
The rear-panel connections cover most living-room sources. The HDMI ARC input receives television sound through a single cable, with the television remote then controlling the volume. The optical and coaxial inputs accommodate a CD player, console or set-top box at up to 24-bit/192 kHz. An RCA line input accepts a conventional analogue source. The phono input, with its own preamplifier, lets you connect a turntable without an additional box.
Bluetooth 5.0 remains the simplest way to share a track from a visitor’s phone. It only supports the SBC and AAC codecs: these are compressed formats, better suited to casual music playback than attentive listening. Finally, a trigger input switches on the Play at the same time as another device in the system.
Square speakers sized to fit a Kallax compartment
The SE100 measure 290 mm high and just as deep, with a perfectly square front panel measuring 180 mm wide. These proportions allow them to fit into IKEA KALLAX shelving compartments, and they sit easily on a desk or conventional shelf. The cabinet is made from high-density MDF, a dense material that limits unwanted panel resonances. The “Starry Black Matte” finish is a matt black polyurethane lacquer with fine glitter particles. Fabric grilles attach magnetically, leaving no visible pegs on the front panel when removed.
The bass-reflex port, the opening that extends bass response, vents at the front. The SE100 therefore tolerate placement close to a wall or at the back of a shelf better than rear-ported speakers. A little space around the cabinet is still preferable to keep the bass clean.
Two drivers and a crossover tuned together
Each speaker combines two drivers. Treble is handled by a 25 mm silk-dome tweeter driven by a neodymium magnet. Bass and midrange are handled by a 13.34 cm driver with a paper-pulp cone, a naturally damped material. Its oxygen-free copper voice coil responds quickly to signal changes. The crossover, the circuit that distributes frequencies between the two drivers, crosses over at 2.6 kHz. Eversolo has adjusted its phase and timing so that sounds from the two drivers reach the ear in alignment, naming this design BLACKEDGE CORE.
Power matched to the speakers and the room
The Play delivers 60 W per channel into 8 ohms and 110 W into 4 ohms. With the SE100, whose nominal impedance is 4 ohms, the amplifier therefore operates in its most generous output range. The 88 dB sensitivity indicates that the speakers do not need a lot of power to play at a good level. Their maximum level of 96 dB suits a bedroom, office or medium-sized living room rather than very loud listening in a large room.
Bass extends down to 55 Hz within a tolerance of ± 3 dB and reaches 50 Hz with more pronounced attenuation. This is sufficient for music, but films and electronic music benefit from a subwoofer. The Play has a dedicated output, with a crossover frequency adjustable between 40 and 500 Hz to blend the subwoofer seamlessly with the speakers. The graphic and parametric equalisers, along with acoustic calibration, then adjust the sound to the room.
Digital outputs to expand the system
The Play leaves the door open to a more ambitious DAC. Its two USB-A ports can read a flash drive or hard drive, but also serve as audio outputs to an external DAC, at up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD512. A coaxial output rounds out the options for devices without a USB input. The Play then retains its role as network player and interface, and still handles amplification if the external DAC sends the signal back through its line input.

Frequently asked questions
Can the Play play CDs?
Not this version. Eversolo offers a Play CD Edition variant with a built-in drive that plays and rips discs. With the Play in this bundle, a CD player connects to the optical, coaxial or analog input.
Does the TV output multichannel audio through the HDMI ARC input?
No. The Play receives a stereo PCM signal up to 24-bit/192 kHz and decodes neither Dolby Digital nor DTS. The TV’s audio output must be set to PCM or stereo for sound to come through.
Which phono cartridges does the Play accept?
The two main types of cartridges. The phono preamplifier applies 60 dB of gain to moving magnet (MM) cartridges, for a sensitivity of 5 mV, and 74 dB to moving coil (MC) cartridges, for 0.5 mV. RIAA correction, the equalization curve specific to vinyl records, is maintained within ± 0.5 dB between 20 Hz and 20 kHz.
How is acoustic calibration performed?
A measurement microphone, sold separately, is required. It is placed at the listening position, and the Play emits test signals. It then measures the room response and calculates a correction that reduces excess bass caused by walls and furniture. The correction can be disabled at any time to return to the original sound.
Are speaker cables included?
No. The Play comes with its power cable and a quick installation guide. The SE100 come with their magnetic grilles and documentation. The Play’s screw terminals accept bare wire or suitable plugs.
Can the SE100 be paired with another amplifier, or the Play with other speakers?
Yes in both cases. The SE100 are passive speakers that work with any 20 to 100 W amplifier capable of handling 4-ohm loads, with a minimum impedance of 3.2 ohms. The Play powers other bookshelf speakers. With 8-ohm models, its output drops to 60 W per channel.
Is Bluetooth good enough for listening to high-quality music?
For critical listening, it’s best to use the network. The Play’s Bluetooth is limited to the SBC and AAC codecs, which compress the signal. Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect or the Eversolo app transmit music over Wi-Fi or Ethernet without this compression, leaving your phone free.
