Klipsch SLM-5400-C (In-Ceiling, In-Wall Speakers)

Installing a speaker in the ceiling when only a few centimetres remain below the slab is often a real headache. The Klipsch SLM-5400-C addresses this issue with a 50 mm mounting depth, among the shallowest on the market, and a fully enclosed galvanised metal back box. Sealed and fire-rated, it isolates sound from neighbouring floors and stabilises bass response without requiring rear volume.

The drivers come from the Reference 5000 series: a 10 cm Cerametallic woofer and a 25 mm titanium dome tweeter mounted in a round Tractrix horn. The sound retains the Klipsch signature, with precise highs and dynamic bass for such a slim format. Expect a frequency response of 90 Hz to 20 kHz, 91 dB sensitivity and 8 ohms impedance, with 50 W recommended.

Two flat-frame magnetic grilles, one square and one round, are supplied to blend into the ceiling according to the room. The IK-650-C installation kit, sold separately, makes positioning easier in new-build installations.
