Denon Home 400 (Wireless Smart Speakers)

Six speakers, six amplifiers, and two of these speakers facing the ceiling: the Denon Home 400 plays Dolby Atmos Music. This format places vocals and instruments in space, including overhead. The two upward-firing 25 mm speakers send sound towards the ceiling, which reflects it back to the listener.

The rest follows a classic three-way configuration. Two 19 mm tweeters reproduce the highs, while two 11.4 cm speakers handle the midrange and bass. Each speaker has its own Class D amplifier. The unit measures 30 × 15 × 22 cm, covered in acoustic fabric on an aluminium base, in Stone or Charcoal finishes.

In the range, the Home 400 sits between the compact Home 200 and the Home 600. It works with HEOS, Denon’s multiroom app, which provides access to streaming services and high-resolution files up to DSD. AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, a USB-C port and a 3.5 mm jack input complete the connectivity. Networking is via tri-band Wi-Fi (2.4, 5 and 6 GHz). The Ethernet port has disappeared, but a USB-C adapter can replace it.

Two Home 400 speakers form a stereo pair. Combined with a Denon Home soundbar and a subwoofer, they serve as rear speakers in a wireless 5.1 home cinema system.
