AudioQuest’s Star 4 connects an amplifier to passive speakers using four solid copper conductors arranged in a star pattern, following the Star-Quad geometry: the two diagonally opposed conductors form the positive pole, and the other two the negative pole. This crossing reduces the cable’s inductance and makes it less sensitive to external interference than a pair of wires laid side by side.

Each conductor is a solid LGC (Long-Grain Copper) wire, whose crystalline structure has fewer grain boundaries than ordinary copper. The direction of conduction is controlled during manufacturing and marked on the jacket, and a dissipation system limits radio-frequency noise travelling through the connection. The cable remains flexible despite its solid conductors, provided it is given a generous bend behind the equipment.

It comes factory-terminated with cold-welded SureGrip 300 banana plugs, so no solder is added to the signal path, and with direct gold plating. Sold as a pair with a black jacket (a white version is also available), it connects equally well to a hi-fi system or a home cinema AV receiver.
