Four conductors rather than two: AudioQuest’s Star 4 uses the Star-Quad geometry the brand has employed since the Type 4. The conductors are arranged in a star pattern. The two diagonally opposite conductors form the positive pole, while the other two form the negative pole. This crossed arrangement lowers the cable’s inductance, meaning its tendency to impede high frequencies and rapid changes in the signal. Attacks remain crisp and dynamics are preserved.

Each conductor is solid Long-Grain Copper (LGC). It is a single continuous wire, with no strands rubbing against and interacting with one another. This copper also has fewer grain boundaries than ordinary copper. AudioQuest controls conductor direction during manufacturing, and the plugs have markings for the amplifier and speaker ends to ensure this direction is maintained when connecting.

The Star 4 comes pre-terminated and is sold in pairs, in 2.5 or 3 m lengths. Its 300 series banana plugs are cold-crimped and gold-plated directly onto the copper, with no nickel underlayer. Its white jacket remains discreet along a light-coloured wall or skirting board.
