Eversolo DMP-A6, A8, A10: which network player to choose?

December 23, 2024

Contents

Eversolo has made a notable entrance into the network player market with its DMP (Digital Music Player) range. Eversolo’s philosophy is clear: to democratize access to high-quality sound while incorporating the latest technologies in streaming and signal processing.

The DMP-A6 quickly won over enthusiasts seeking unbeatable value for money. The DMP-A8 further solidified this position by offering substantial improvements, while the brand-new DMP-A10 clearly aims for the high-end segment with features that rival market leaders. This cohesive range allows Eversolo to cater to a wide spectrum of users, from curious beginners to the most demanding audiophiles.

Three DACs, Three Levels of Sound Precision

The quality of the digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is crucial in a network player, as it largely determines the fidelity of sound reproduction. The three Eversolo models use high-quality DACs but with different approaches:

Model DAC Chip Features
DMP-A6 ES9038Q2M (x2) Independent stereo conversion, good sound quality
DMP-A8 AK4499EX + AK4191EQ Velvet Sound technology, warm and detailed sound
DMP-A10 ESS 9039 Pro High precision, enhanced neutrality, pure and natural sound

The progression of DACs from one model to the next translates into improved precision, clarity, and richness of sound.

Connectivity and Streaming: A Versatile Choice

All three models offer comprehensive connectivity with USB, optical, and coaxial ports for a variety of digital sources. The DMP-A10 stands out with an HDMI eARC input, serving as an audio hub to centralize all sources in a home theater system.

On the output side, these network players feature balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs, compatible with all amplifiers. The DMP-A10 further distinguishes itself with two subwoofer outputs for powerful bass.

When it comes to streaming, Eversolo leaves nothing to chance. The players support major music services (Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music) and popular protocols like Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, DLNA/UPnP, and AirPlay. The DMP-A10 goes a step further with an SFP fiber optic network port for interference-free transmission.

All models support a wide range of high-resolution audio formats: DSD up to DSD512, PCM up to 768 kHz / 32-bit, MQA, as well as common formats like FLAC, WAV, MP3, AAC, and more.

Power Supply Solutions for Network Players

One of the biggest enemies of audio quality is electrical noise. Eversolo understands this well and has gone to great lengths to ensure the purest possible signal.

The DMP-A6 uses a high-quality switching power supply, sufficient for its entry-level ambitions. The DMP-A8 takes a step further with a hybrid power supply: a linear block dedicated to the analog section, coupled with a switching power supply for the digital section. This separation minimizes interference between the different circuit stages.

The DMP-A10 pushes the concept even further with two completely independent linear power supplies. This premium configuration, combined with meticulous shielding and carefully selected components, achieves an extremely low noise floor, below 30 µV RMS according to the manufacturer’s specifications. This allows even the finest details of your favorite recordings to shine through.

Model Power Supply Type Advantages
DMP-A6 Switching Compact and efficient, but potentially noisier
DMP-A8 Hybrid Good balance between performance and energy efficiency
DMP-A10 Dual Linear Optimal sound quality, complete circuit separation

Room Acoustic Correction: The DMP-A10’s Innovation

While performance is paramount, Eversolo has also considered practical features. The DMP-A10 stands out with its “EverSolo Room Correction” system, which analyzes room acoustics and automatically adjusts the frequency response to compensate for environmental flaws, ensuring optimal sound.

Customization is also a key feature, with a 10-band parametric equalizer on the A8 and A10 models, and a customizable circular volume knob display on the DMP-A10, an aesthetic touch that will appeal to connoisseurs.

An Optimized User Interface for Comfort

All three models are equipped with a color touchscreen, 6 inches for the DMP-A6 and 6.5 inches for the DMP-A10, offering Full HD resolution for perfect readability of album covers and track information.

The graphical interface is smooth and responsive, allowing intuitive navigation via the touchscreen or remote control.

The “EverSolo Control” mobile app, available on iOS and Android, enables full control of the player from a smartphone or tablet. It stands out for its responsiveness and allows users to browse libraries, manage playlists, and adjust advanced settings. Integration with third-party services like Spotify and Tidal simplifies music control directly from the app.
