Klipsch PIC: In-wall Speakers Designed for Integrators
January 22, 2025

Klipsch, the renowned American manufacturer of speakers, expands its catalog with the PIC series (Professional In-Ceiling), dedicated to in-ceiling speakers. Designed to meet the demands of professionals and high-end residential installations, this new range combines acoustic quality, durability, and ease of installation. Available in five models, the PIC series adapts to a variety of spaces and uses, from home theaters to large commercial environments.
A Complete and Versatile Range
The PIC series includes four full-range speakers (PIC-450-T, PIC-525-T-SC, PIC-650-T, and PIC-800-T) as well as a subwoofer (PIC-800-SW). These models primarily differ in the size of their woofer/midrange driver, ranging from 11.5 cm for the PIC-450-T to 20.3 cm for the PIC-800-T. The PIC-800-SW subwoofer is equipped with a 20.3 cm driver dedicated to low frequencies.
All models in the range share common features, including a 2.5 cm titanium compression tweeter mounted on a Tractrix horn, a signature feature of Klipsch. This configuration aims to deliver wide and uniform sound dispersion, suitable for the constraints of in-ceiling installations.
Proprietary Technologies for Superior Performance
Klipsch highlights several technical innovations in the PIC series. The Tractrix Hyperfold Port, present on all models, uses a five-fold design to maximize low-frequency output while reducing distortion. This approach ensures deep and precise bass despite the spatial limitations inherent to in-ceiling speakers.
The patented Sky Hook Pro mounting system significantly simplifies installation. It allows for tool-free assembly, reducing the time and complexity of setup for integrators. This feature is particularly relevant for large-scale projects requiring the installation of numerous speakers.
Versatility and Durability for All Environments
The PIC series stands out for its versatility. All models are IPX5 certified, ensuring resistance to water splashes. The PIC-450-T model even boasts an IPX6 certification, offering superior protection against powerful water jets. This feature makes it possible to consider installations in humid environments such as bathrooms, covered patios, or certain commercial spaces.
The speakers in the PIC series include a transformer for use with 70/100 V lines, common in professional installations, or in low impedance (8 ohms) for traditional hi-fi systems. This flexibility facilitates integration into a wide variety of configurations.
Designed for Professional Requirements
The technical specifications announced by Klipsch for the PIC series reflect high ambitions in terms of performance. The frequency response ranges from 54 Hz to 20 kHz for the PIC-450-T model, reaching as low as 46 Hz for the PIC-800-T. These figures suggest extended bass reproduction, unusual for in-ceiling speakers of this size.
The high sensitivity, a hallmark of Klipsch speakers, is also present in this range, with values between 88 dB and 92 dB (1W/1m) depending on the model. This efficiency allows for high sound levels with moderate amplification, an advantage for installations requiring extensive sound coverage.
Discreet Integration and Customization
Aware of the importance of aesthetics in in-ceiling installations, Klipsch provides magnetic white and black grilles with each model. These grilles can be painted to perfectly match the surrounding decor. The compact dimensions of the speakers, particularly in terms of mounting depth, make them easy to integrate into most walls and false ceilings.
The Klipsch PIC series positions itself as a premium solution for demanding professional and residential in-ceiling installations. It combines the brand’s proven acoustic technologies with practical features that meet the needs of integrators. If the promised performance is confirmed in practice, this range could establish itself as a benchmark in this specific market segment.
