The latest version of R_video, the digital media library management software, introduces a host of new features. Two stand out in particular: Favorite Scenes and Multiple Categorization.
Favorite Scenes: Tailored Cinema Experience
The “Favorite Scenes” feature allows movie enthusiasts to mark and revisit specific moments from their films and series. However, note that this feature is not compatible with Zappiti players from the HDR range or earlier models.
Here’s what it offers in detail:
- Creation of custom time markers
- Direct playback of selected scenes
- Sharing and discovering favorite scenes within the community
This feature addresses a real need for fans who want to rewatch their favorite moments without navigating through the entire film. Its usefulness, however, will depend on the precision of the marking system and the interface’s user-friendliness.
Multiple Categorization: Enhanced Organization
The update introduces the ability to perform multiple operations on categories and groups. This improvement is crucial for efficiently managing large media libraries:
- Add or remove multiple items simultaneously within a category
- Batch management of content groups
This feature should significantly speed up the organization of extensive collections. Its actual effectiveness will depend on the user interface’s design and usability.
Technical Improvements and Fixes
R_video 1.9.39 brings a range of optimizations:
- Improved responsiveness of the “Back” button when loading the collection
- Better handling of dates in titles during content re-identification
- Option to disable automatic file renaming and moving (for R_volution NAS users)
On the fixes side, several issues have been resolved:
- R_volution Share function is operational again on certain players
- Correct updating of series watch status
- Accurate display of movie durations, especially for seamless branching Blu-rays
An Integrated Video Player, but with Limitations
R_video 1.9.39 now includes an optional video player for PC and Mac versions. This addition could simplify viewing for some users. However, the player does not support ISO files or complex structures. This limitation might be problematic for users with ripped Blu-ray collections.
