Direct current blockers (DC blockers)

A DC blocker reduces mechanical hum in transformers, particularly those in hi-fi amplifiers, by eliminating the DC component from the mains supply. It is available as a standalone unit for a single device or integrated into a power conditioner that also filters interference. The choice depends on the amplifier’s power consumption and rated current. Caution: it does not correct hum coming from speakers or ground loop problems.
