The Cardas Iridium RCA is an analog audio cable, the successor to the Cardas MicroTwin. This model combines advanced technology with artisanal craftsmanship to deliver high-quality sound reproduction.
Innovative Design in Service of Music
The Iridium cable features the Golden Ratio geometry, a hallmark of Cardas. This unique conductor arrangement, inspired by the golden ratio, is designed to optimize signal transmission and minimize interference. Pure copper Litz wires of varying gauges are concentrically wound, with the thinnest in the center and the thickest on the outer layers. This complex structure reduces cable inductance and resonance, resulting in purer sound reproduction.
Premium Materials for Uncompromising Quality
True to its reputation for excellence, Cardas has made no compromises in material selection. The Iridium uses four pure copper conductors of 24.5 AWG, ensuring optimal conductivity. The PPFE (expanded fluorinated polypropylene) insulation provides excellent dielectric properties while maintaining cable flexibility. A dual shielding system of PFA and carbon effectively protects the signal from external electromagnetic interference.
100% American Handcrafted Manufacturing
Despite its affordable price for a high-end cable, the Iridium is entirely handcrafted in the United States at Cardas’ Oregon workshops. Each cable is meticulously assembled by hand, ensuring consistent quality and optimal control at every stage of production.
High-Precision Connectors
The RCA GRCM connectors used on the Iridium are specifically designed by Cardas to provide optimal contact. Their non-magnetic structure and rhodium-over-silver plating ensure excellent conductivity and resistance to oxidation. For XLR versions, Cardas has chosen Neutrik connectors, renowned for their reliability and performance.
A Balanced and Refined Sound Signature
The Iridium stands out for its ability to deliver a wide and precise soundstage while maintaining remarkable tonal balance. The midrange is rich and detailed, offering excellent presence to vocals and instruments. The highs are smooth and free of harshness, yet retain clarity and definition. In the bass range, the articulation and depth add body and realism to the listening experience.
A Versatile Cable to Enhance Your System
Whether connecting a source to a preamplifier or a preamplifier to a power amplifier, the Iridium will bring out the best in your hi-fi system. Its neutrality and transparency make it an excellent tool for revealing the qualities of your equipment without excessive coloration. It particularly excels in reproducing timbres and micro-details, allowing you to rediscover your favorite recordings in a new light.
The Evolution of a Classic: From MicroTwin to Iridium
The Iridium succeeds the popular MicroTwin cable in the Cardas lineup. While both models share a common philosophy, the Iridium features several notable improvements. The conductor geometry has been optimized for better interference immunity. The insulating materials have also been upgraded to enhance dielectric properties. Finally, the connectors have been updated to provide even more reliable contact. The result is a cable that retains the musical qualities of the MicroTwin while achieving new levels of transparency and definition.
