The inverted dome, a true Focal signature from the beginning, optimizes the coupling between the dome and the voice coil by providing better spatial dispersion, less directivity and significantly increased efficiency. This contributes to unrivaled spatial rendering, with the help of Focal’s new TNF process: the aluminum-magnesium membrane has a Poron suspension, a shape-memory material derived from the famous Focal beryllium tweeter. Distortion is thus divided by 2 in the area of maximum sensitivity of the ear. In addition, a waveguide improves the horizontal directivity which is within ± 0.5 db. The incomparable stability of the Aria 948’s soundstage is no accident.
