AudioQuest’s Flat Series speaker cable is built around a semi-solid concentric design. While not as transparent as AudioQuest’s solid-core conductors, the semi-solid wire is significantly more resolved than conventional stranded wire.

Semi-Solid Concentric Packed Conductors

Semi-solid concentric conductors are used in some of AudioQuest’s AC power and speaker cables as a flexible, cost-effective alternative to typical stranded conductors. Semi-solid concentric conductors use fewer, larger strands that do not change position over the length of the cable. While solid conductors are the ultimate solution to strand distortion, semi-solid concentric conductors avoid many of the distortion mechanisms of stranded conductors.

Long-Grain Copper (LGC)

LGC allows a smoother, clearer sound than cables using regular Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity (OFHC) copper. OFHC is a general metal industry specification regarding “loss” without any concern for distortion. LGC has fewer oxides within the conducting material, less impurities, less grain boundaries, and significantly better performance. G-2 cables use LGC strands in a semi-solid concentric conductor arrangement.

Spread Spectrum Technology (SST)

Any size or shape of conductor has a specific distortion profile. While radially symmetrical conductors (solid or tubular) have the least discontinuity, any conductor of a particular size does have a sonic signature. SST is a method to significantly reduce the awareness of these character flaws by using a precise combination of different size conductors.
