Superior Conductors for Unmatched Performance

The Tornado (Source) features Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC) and Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors. These high-purity conductors are designed to prevent strand interaction, a major source of fatiguing transient intermodulation distortion. The astonishingly smooth and pure Perfect-Surface Copper eliminates harshness and greatly increases clarity compared to OFHC, OCC, 8N and other premium coppers.

Ground-Noise Dissipation Technology

This power cable is equipped with Audioquest’s patented Ground-Noise Dissipation technology (US Pat #9,373,439). This technology is designed to reduce distortion and signal loss caused by AC noise present at the power source, which is then exacerbated by radio-frequency noise induced by the AC power cord.

Dielectric-Bias System with Radio-Frequency Noise Trap

The Tornado (Source) also features a Dielectric-Bias System with a Radio-Frequency Noise Trap. This system creates a constant dielectric field for the cable’s primary capacitive or dielectric field, ensuring extended bandwidth and more uniform noise dissipation. This eliminates distortions and “resonances” that affect other cables, even after years of use and supposed “break-in”.

Directionally Controlled Conductors

The conductors in the Tornado (Source) are directionally controlled. This means all drawn metal strands or conductors have a non-symmetrical, and therefore directional, grain structure. AudioQuest controls the resulting RF impedance variations to ensure the cable’s performance is consistent over time.

Optimized for Source Components

The Tornado (Source) is optimized for use with source components, such as SACD players and DACs, which require a high-performance power cable. It is not appropriate for use with AC power conditioners, power regenerators, AC isolation transformers, AC battery backup devices, as well as any power amplifier, active subwoofer, active speaker, active receiver, or integrated amplifier (whether tube, solid-state, or digital switching). These products will require greater RMS and transient current capacity.
