When it’s time to replace the original wiring of a hi-fi system or compact stereo, the choice quickly becomes complicated between generic cables and high-end models with prohibitive prices. The CBV130016 offers an intermediate path: manufactured by French cable specialist Real Cable, it combines 99.99% OFC oxygen-free copper conductors with an HSCC high-pressure injection process, and comes ready to plug in with gold-plated banana plugs.

High-purity copper sealed in a vacuum

The quality of a speaker cable is first and foremost based on the quality of its conductor. Real Cable has chosen 99.99% deoxygenated OFC (Oxygen-Free Copper), a material that minimizes impurities likely to degrade signal transmission. The strands that make up the conductor are particularly thin, which promotes the cable’s flexibility and its ability to carry the full audio spectrum without excessive skin effect on high frequencies.

The HSCC (High Spec Copper Conductor) braiding is one of this model’s distinctive features. The process consists of injecting a polypropylene sheath under high pressure, in a vacuum environment, around the copper conductors. This operation eliminates air gaps between the strands, thereby optimizing the cable’s effective conductivity. Real Cable claims improved dynamics and precision in the bass register thanks to this technique.

Double insulation against interference

The home environment is full of electromagnetic interference sources: switching power supplies, mobile phones, connected devices. To limit their impact on the audio signal, the CBV130016 features double progressive insulation in polypropylene (PP gradient insulation). This two-layer structure creates a protective shield that preserves signal quality between the amplifier and the speakers.

The outer white sheath, flexible and discreet, makes it easy to route the cable behind a piece of furniture or along a baseboard. Real Cable has also integrated a polarity marking system into the very design of the cable: the sheath has a different profile on each side, one rounded, the other more angular. This asymmetry allows you to identify polarity without having to look for markings, even in poor lighting conditions.

Ready-to-use banana plugs

The CBV130016 comes pre-assembled with 24-carat gold-plated, multi-contact banana plugs. This type of termination offers several practical advantages. Inserting and removing the cables takes just a split second, with no need to unscrew binding posts or handle bare copper strands. The gold plating protects the contacts against oxidation over time, while the multi-point design ensures a large contact surface with the binding post.

Each cable is 3 meters long, and the product is sold as a pair, giving a total of 6 meters to connect your two speakers. This length is suitable for most living-room setups, leaving enough slack to go around a piece of furniture or run along a wall. The 1.3 mm² cross-section is still appropriate for moderately powered amplifiers and reasonable distances between electronics and speakers.
