The AX-505 is based on a high-performance, energy-efficient Hypex Ncore power amplifier module that delivers 115 W + 115 W output power from a small unit. This is not a standard Ncore module… it has been carefully tuned by TEAC to provide maximum musical expression across the entire musical repertoire.

Carefully selected parts

From the MUSE op-amps in the analog section (which fundamentally determine the sound quality of the amplifier) to the ladder-type volume controls, our engineers have carefully chosen all key components from the “made for Hi-Fi” ranges.

Balanced XLR inputs

The AX-505 is equipped with a pair of balanced XLR analog audio inputs, designed to help minimize external noise picked up when an analog audio signal passes through the interconnect cable.

CCLC headphone amplifier circuit for maximum linearity

The AX-505 is also equipped with a 4-pole headphone output jack that supports a “ground separate” connection for excellent channel separation when listening with headphones. The CCLC (capacitor-coupled-less) headphone amplifier circuit design eliminates coupling capacitors in the circuit’s output stage. This reduces tonal coloration during processing, thus providing a more authentic audio signal to your headphones.

High-capacity toroidal core power transformer

In the power supply section, the AX-505 uses a high-capacity toroidal core power transformer as well as Schottky barrier diodes in the rectifier circuit.

The advantage of Schottky barrier diodes over conventional types is that they provide cleaner and more stable current, thus reducing rectifier noise in every part of the amplifier circuit.
