Amplifier of very high quality, perfect finish. Excellent in terms of music and home theater. Several programs allow you to fully enjoy this amp. The power is very impressive. In 4K playback with the A,I function, it is absolutely breathtaking.
I can only recommend this amp

Very good home theater amp, bought to replace an old RX v800- Yamaha that still works!!!! I hope this one will do just as well. In terms of build quality as well as sound quality, for now it’s perfect.
A very small downside with the MusicCast app, which from time to time doesn’t connect to my Qobuz account. I restart it and everything works. If I had known, I would have bought it sooner!!

Easy to install, various and precise configuration options, really great for getting started properly
Too bad the screw-type speaker connectors don’t have inputs for banana plugs in series

I’m quite disappointed with the initial setup of the amp.
No automatic installation when you turn it on and, above all, the network update doesn’t work.
Once it’s configured, it’s Yamaha: it hits hard and it’s precise.

Good build quality.
The YPAO correction system works quickly and well.
Compared with my previous amp, dialogue is clearer… but I find it hard to see benefits that justify the price difference (at least 1 to 3).
In particular, I was never able to connect to the amp with the AV Setup and MusicCast apps.
Bought during promotional offers, the price/performance ratio is acceptable, but not at the regular price.

excellent sound characteristics in stereo/hi-fi operation (e.g. analog phono, net radio, external sources, etc.). surround sound in surround mode is also excellent, with AI making it just that bit better again. however, dialog reproduction, especially when connecting a TV via eARC, is rather average. one star deducted for the extremely sensitive plastic surface of the control panel (streak scratches from a glasses cloth?! – absolutely unacceptable). at this price point it should have a proper glass panel so it still looks good in 10 years’ time.

This Yamaha RX-A4A amplifier is replacing an RX-V6A. As a loyal Yamaha user, my budget finally lets me get a taste of Yamaha’s AVENTAGE range. Without getting completely blown away—probably due to a lack of time to fine‑tune the multitude of settings—my first impressions are: more precision, more immersion, and more power. Everything feels a bit better (YPAO, speaker power supply, sound bubble, etc.). Is it a placebo effect due to the novelty? In any case, I’m really looking forward to watching my favorite movies again to really put this amp to the test.

Flawless and unsurprising audio and video quality, it’s Yamaha, so I’m on familiar ground (4th home cinema amp).
However, I do have several regrets:
Screen too small and not as good as on previous generations because the background remains (too) bright.
On-screen menu management on the TV doesn’t work in TV mode, and is much less intuitive than before.
The manual available online is 400 pages long and is designed mainly for digital use, with no real possibility of printing it unless you print all 400 pages, many of which contain only a few lines.
In short, an outstanding piece of equipment but difficult to get to grips with because of the complexity of its features and a user manual that’s not very clear.
Still, I’m leaving 5 stars.

It has everything, does everything, and I find it very good-looking.
Power-wise, my system has never worked this well.
For home theater, it’s great, and for hi-fi too.
It’s big—didn’t notice at first—it doesn’t fit in my cabinet, so now I’m looking for a new one.

Excellent amp, very good sound quality, used to replace my DSP-AZ2. Lots of settings for all inputs—it takes a bit of time and thought, but it's worth it.

Super amp, I'm really enjoying my movie and rediscovering it. The only downside is there are no instructions included, you can find some online but the system can be a bit hard to understand at times, but the sound is simply sublime.

Very high quality Yamaha amplifier. Excellent manufacturing.
This device has many settings. Sometimes you can get lost in them.
Some settings are used by default, such as the "virtual speaker" option, even though it doesn't sound natural at all.
I have a lot of trouble adjusting the dialogue, which is sometimes very 'distant' and not prominent compared to the music or sound effects from TV sources.
Additionally, this amplifier is fully compatible with the Xbox Series X. The sound in games is incredible. Highly localized and precise.
When it comes to Blu-rays, the sound is wow.
It's worth noting that this amplifier replaced a Yamaha Z7 because it was not compatible with the latest technologies.

Very satisfied, good quality image, and the sound fully satisfies me for both music and home cinema.
However, settings are not easy.

Very good product. In cinema it's fabulous, in music, it's very good, it doesn't match a dedicated high-end system, but it's really not unpleasant at all. I tried it with my JMR Opéra speakers connected directly to the A4A, they are normally on an old Luxman and the pairing is really great; in Pure Direct mode it lacked spatialization, I found the sound cramped compared to what I'm used to, so I connected the Luxman to the front pre-out output, the sound took on a whole new dimension, still in Pure Direct mode obviously, the marriage of the two is just a killer. Otherwise in cinema, it develops seriously, there is power under the hood, it knows how to be discreet as well as make the room explode, the effects are there. The only complaint I would make about this amp is that there are 9 speakers connected, excluding subwoofers, and the amp is only capable of managing 7 at a time, obviously they are used according to the sound encoding of what you are watching or listening to, which the A6A and A8A know how to do, but the price is definitely not the same. So yes, the A4A is expensive, but whether it's in music or in cinema, it does the job and it does it very well. For those looking for a good compromise, it really works well.

Replaced a Marantz SR6015 because I wanted more HDMI 2.1 for my consoles, my PC, etc.
I had Yamaha before the Marantz, which is why I decided to try this brand again, and wow, what a disappointment.
I'm not saying the sound is bad, but I find it way too sharp and metallic, not to mention the return of the gas factory for all the options.
So back to Marantz and its Cinema 50, and BAM! Superb sound - smooth, precise and musical. Everything sounds great, it's a joy. Plus, this update to the SR6015 brings a backlit remote control and an updated, modern menu.

Purchased to replace my trusty RX V 771, I immediately recognized almost all of YAMAHA's so-called "gas factory" parameters.
The power gain is there, but what I was mainly looking for was a home theater amplifier capable of making me vibrate as much on music as on movies. And as usual, the manufacturer delivers. Personally, I have nothing to complain about in this regard. It powers two ARIA 948 columns, an ARIA center, and two SR 900s. These last two, like the amp, are in the break-in phase, but what I can say is that it sends some seriously heavy sound in a 45m2 room! At low power, I hear many little sounds that I didn't perceive or perceived poorly before, both in the front and the rear. Even at this level, after many tests and adjustments, the whole setup exudes an uncommon power, and when listening to Hans Zimmer for example, you feel transported by the music; just like when watching Transformers or the latest Spiderman, each action was perfectly rendered and especially well-placed in the room.
The surround effects are absolutely mind-blowing, and I can't wait to complete my setup with a 1000f subwoofer and two icw8s.
As for the DSP part, it's as usual - it renders well, but switching to "straight" mode allows for a much more natural listening experience, but that's a matter of taste! On the other hand, for the AI surround... how can I put it... it's just impressive! As a result, I juggle between audio passages to figure out what's best between the two aforementioned settings, but this AI is impressive, and during plane passages in Transformers or during the tank battle in Fury, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen because the overall quality was borderline "frightening"!
Moreover, the amp doesn't heat up, the automatic calibration is accurate but sorely lacks power, and on an amp of this caliber I find that silly!
Otherwise, it's a full house!

Excellent device with modern features (AirPlay 2, remote control with Google, top-notch app, bi-directional Bluetooth), sound quality nearly equivalent to the best Marantz models, and a sleek design. The backlit remote control is also very good.
Completely satisfied with my purchase.

Purchased to replace my Yamaha rx-v585. I really appreciate the Musiccast system which allows me to have the rear surround speakers without having to run cables. My rx-v585 gave me a lot of satisfaction but here with the rx-a4a it's another world. The improvement in calibration is immense and the musicality for "hi-fi" listening is really noticeable. For TV shows in 2.0, I use Dolby Surround and for multi-channel movies, I use Yamaha's Surround AI. I hesitated for a long time between the rx-a2a and the rx-a4a because the price difference is significant. In the end, I preferred to save up to order the 4a and I'm super happy with it.

Superb amplifier with an excellent design and size that delivers on its promise.
Deep bass and clear highs. The sound is detailed, powerful and crisp. Nothing distorts.
The Surround AI function really immerses you in the ambiance.
Of course, you need the right speakers to pair with it.
While the price is certainly high, it's truly worth it.
