Transmission of the original digital signal
Some systems use a digital link between the source and the preamplifier, thus maintaining the digital purity of the signal as long as possible. Technics Digital Link goes even further. It eliminates the volume control function of the preamplifier, and instead transmits the volume information directly to the amplifier with the audio signal in digital form. The amplifier’s jitter reduction circuit reduces the effects of jitter in the signal transmission and controls the volume directly at the PWM converter level. This new sound transmission interface, Technics Digital Link, supports audio signals up to 32 bits/384 kHz, and eliminates inter-channel effects by transmitting the right and left channel signals separately.
Technics Digital Link is thus an ideal amplification configuration, minimizing degradation between the preamplifier and amplifier, and achieving superb stereo separation and reproduction of the most subtle signals. The result? An even more dynamic and detailed sound.
Digital noise isolation architecture
The SU-R1 network player preamplifier receives audio signals from various sources, such as a NAS, computer, USB drive or digital interface. Most of these digital sources were designed to work with a computer, and thus generate digital noise (since playing audio files was not their priority). To handle these “noisy” sources, the SU-R1 isolates the interfaces of these sources to exclude external electrical interference. It also uses a jitter reducer, thus providing a clear and stable sound, free of any noise and distortion.
Separate analog/digital power supply
The analog circuit and digital circuit benefit from low-noise R-core type transformers, which offer stable performance even in case of load variation. The power supply is isolated to eliminate any digital noise from the analog circuits.
Technics Music App For smartphones and tablets
The Technics Music App allows you to select a music source, playback device, and easily create a playlist on a smartphone or tablet. Technics Music App provides access to your DLNA server, smartphone or tablet content, and content from a USB drive connected to the device, giving you full playback control.
Ultra-low distortion oversampling digital filter
The oversampling digital filter, incorporating a proprietary Technics algorithm, reduces digital noise to at least -160dB, reducing possible distortion to an inaudible level, to leave room for a truly rich and detailed sound.
Optimized activation circuit system
The SU-R1 is equipped with Digital Noise Isolation Architecture (DNIA), a very high precision clock generator and an independent Burr-Brown PCM1792 DAC converter for the right and left channels. After digital/analog conversion, the circuits are configured in symmetry, using non-magnetic resistors, RC circuits and an LME49720 operational amplifier. Analog signals are converted to digital signals by the Burr-Brown PCM4220 24-bit/192-kHz DAC, allowing ultra-pure sound, without distinction between a digital or analog source.
High Res Re-master
Technics has developed a signal processing technology to improve both the bit depth and the sampling frequency: the High Res Re-master system converts audio signals to high resolution up to 32 bits/192 kHz, bringing the listener closer to the original music.
