The Antal EZ embodies the culmination of two decades of acoustic refinement at Triangle. This seventh evolution of a cult model, originally launched in 1994, benefits from innovations developed for the prestigious Magellan series while preserving the musical DNA that made the Esprit range so successful. Positioned as the flagship product of the EZ series, this 1.1-meter floorstanding speaker combines French craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology to deliver sound reproduction that is both precise and warm.
Elegant Design and Premium Finishes
The Antal EZ stands out for its slender proportions and refined presence in the listening space. Resting on a thick, ingeniously designed glass base, it features a sophisticated decoupling system. This base includes four holes fitted with rubber rings, allowing the use of metal spikes for optimal decoupling or rubber cones to protect delicate floors.
The range of finishes caters to the most discerning tastes: from deep, glossy black lacquer to natural woods like teak, maple, or chestnut. The white finish, particularly striking, takes a monochrome approach right down to the speaker grilles, creating a pristine look that fits perfectly into contemporary interiors.
Acoustic Technologies Inherited from Magellan
At the heart of the Antal EZ is the TZ2500B tweeter, a true technological signature of Triangle. This transducer uses a 25 mm titanium dome paired with a compression chamber, a configuration that promotes high efficiency with minimal distortion and exceptional directivity. The phase plug and molded horn, derived from Magellan research, give this tweeter its ability to reproduce the subtlest nuances of a cymbal or the harmonics of a piano.
The midrange driver revolutionizes the traditional approach with its 165 mm diaphragm made from 100% natural cellulose pulp. This white membrane, free from any chemical treatment, avoids unwanted coloration while offering the ideal balance between lightness and rigidity. The small-pleat peripheral suspension optimizes the radiating surface, while the diaphragm profile and new dust cap are directly inspired by the Magellan program’s research.
The two 165 mm woofers exploit the remarkable properties of fiberglass, a material chosen for its excellent performance in the lower midrange. The Esprit EZ innovation lies in the layering of textile materials and fiberglass, enhancing diaphragm rigidity. The new chassis dissipates heat generated by the voice coil more efficiently, ensuring consistent performance even at high volumes.
Installation and Amplifier Compatibility
The Antal EZ has a nominal load of 8 ohms, but its minimum impedance of 3 ohms requires some caution when choosing amplification [specifications]. This characteristic calls for an amplifier capable of delivering high current, especially in the bass. Amplifiers specified for loads of 4 ohms or less are perfectly suitable.
The next-generation terminal block, made from a copper-rich alloy, ensures optimal conductivity. Its design allows the use of cables up to 5 mm in diameter or banana plugs thanks to the self-locking system. The possibility of bi-wiring gives discerning audiophiles the option to further optimize performance by separating the power supply to the bass and mid-high drivers.
One user reports excellent results with a Yamaha RX-V781 amplifier in a bi-amped configuration, highlighting the speaker’s versatility in a 5.1 home theater system. This setup reveals the Antal EZ’s ability to adapt to multichannel demands while preserving its musical qualities.
French Manufacturing Quality
Triangle continues a tradition of manufacturing excellence in its French workshops. Each Antal EZ benefits from meticulous assembly and rigorous quality control. The 27 kg chassis attests to its solid construction, with carefully crafted cabinetry and flawless finishes.
The 5-year warranty, exceptionally long in this sector, reflects the manufacturer’s confidence in the durability of its products. This warranty covers all components, from drivers to finishes, offering valuable peace of mind.
The crossover systems use components selected for their long-term stability. This attention to detail ensures consistent sound quality over the years, an essential feature for an investment of this caliber.
How long is the break-in period needed to optimize performance?
+
The Antal EZ requires about three weeks of listening at moderate volume to reach its full potential. This break-in period allows the suspensions to loosen up and the bass to gain firmness. Initial listening sessions may seem disappointing in the bass, but this impression gradually disappears.
Which amplifiers are best suited for the Antal EZ?
+
Despite its nominal impedance of 8 ohms, the minimum impedance of 3 ohms requires an amplifier capable of delivering high current. Models specified for loads of 4 ohms or less are perfectly suitable. A power output of 120 to 250 watts RMS is recommended to fully exploit its capabilities.
Does bi-wiring provide an audible advantage?
+
Bi-wiring allows you to separate the power supply to the bass and mid-high drivers, reducing interaction between channels. This setup can improve precision and dynamics, especially with quality amplifiers. One user reports excellent results with bi-amplification.
How should I choose between the different available finishes?
+
The choice depends on the desired aesthetic integration. The black lacquer finish offers a luxurious look but requires more maintenance. Wood finishes (teak, maple, chestnut) bring warmth and a natural feel, while white is ideal for contemporary interiors.
Is the Antal EZ suitable for small listening rooms?
+
With its substantial size and high sensitivity, the Antal EZ thrives in rooms of 20 to 40 m². In a smaller space, it may acoustically dominate and require placement further from the walls to avoid resonance.
What is the difference compared to the previous Antal?
+
This seventh evolution incorporates Magellan technologies, notably the new natural cellulose midrange and optimized fiberglass woofers. The tweeter has been improved, and the terminal block has been completely redesigned for better conductivity.

First of all, these speakers are magnificent.. Then, after a good break-in period paired with a Marantz Midel 50, they reveal a smooth tone, accurate highs and a very present midrange; the bass is rounded without being heavy. In short, with the promotion, it’s simply magnificent—I enjoy them every day. The delivery service is, as always, top-notch 👌
